@Cat_Robutt it's a bit of a dilemma, really. I was in the US last year for 2 months. I didn't enjoy being in LA, however, USC has the better program (as well as being a part of the Annenberg). Whereas I loved NY and could see myself living there, but the programs there don't seem of the same calibre as USC's. But being NY and the centre of Communications, I'm wondering if that makes up for it? What are your thoughts?

MA in Public Relation/Chances of admission

Hey there, In terms of your question, I can't be of any help. But I'm applying for PR programs too. Nice to find someone else on here applying for similar programs! -
I had my interview with USC over a month ago. International students were asked to submit applications a month earlier than domestic applicants, so it's been a long wait for me! Hoping to hear something back next week since it would have been 6 weeks since the domestic application deadline and based on previous years' results release.

1977?! Wow. No words. How many people do they have entering all this data during busy periods like these? That makes things a little difficult for me. I'm ahead of LA by 16 hours and international phone rates are pricey, especially when people put you on hold. Thanks for the info though, I'll get on to it.

At least that's a positive! I feel so much better about my application now - thanks! I don't know whether to resend or not. I sent my transcripts mid December so I understand mail processing would have been slow being the Christmas and New Year period and USC was closed between the Dec 25 and Jan 3. But the email said it would take 8 - 10 business days to process the documents, but then 12 - 14 business days for it to show up in the system?!?! Maybe I should just get it couriered...

I wish they flew me out! I'm from Australia - so it would have been at least a 20-hour flight for me and $2000 for them to get me to LA I did a video interview. They pre-recorded the questions. I've never heard of schools interviewing that way before. Was definitely strange recording the answers. I wish it could have been a bit more personal to ease the nerves. Nonetheless, still went well. I did look at Syracuse, too. Their MA curriculum didn't appeal to me though. Is Syracuse quite quaint? Excuse my lack of knowledge of the States haha. I spent 2 months traveling the US and I still feel like I have so much to learn about it!

I think what makes the wait even worse is that I'm applying as an international student. The thought I've picking up everything and moving half way across the road is stressful enough!! The interview went well, thanks I thought they'd ask me questions about me - qualities, strengths, weaknesses etc. Instead they asked me about the industry, which I thought was interesting seeing as my three-quarters of my 4-page SOP discussed the industry. What made you pick Colorado State and Syracuse for your MA?

MS/MA in Public Relations

Wow - that really is quite a difference. I will definitely keep that in mind if I have to choose between the two. I'm from Australia, so the west coast definitely sounds more like home. -

Thanks! I was surprised to hear from them so early seeing as they post decisions late March. I actually just completed the interview. I thought they were going to ask questions about my qualities, strengths, weaknesses etc and want to get to know me more personally. Instead, it was my thoughts and opinions of the industry. It is really hard to pick up on school vibes when you're on the other side of the world. I've had 3 years' experience in the industry so either school/program, I'm sure I'll be able to develop my skill set -
How far in advance do you get interview invites?
smw0805 replied to onceinalifetime's topic in Interviews and Visits
Wow - that is so much lead time! I got an invite to do a video interview (Is that the norm now over Skype?). Received the email on Wednesday and was asked to complete the interview by Sunday. I guess I'd rather get it over and done with, saves the stress of it all.
