Anyone heard back from SSA Chicago? or U Ill Chicago?

I applied Jan 15, and I know we have 10 days left until their "hear by" date, but just wondering if they started sending out decisions yet.

Also UIC, haven't heard a peep.

I heard back from SSA about 6 weeks after meeting their Dec. 1st deadline. I submitted my UIC app in early January and heard back via postal service last week (though the letter was dated 2/24). Hope you hear something soon!

  2. Thanks for creating this thread! I think I'll be accepting my admission (AM Full-time Day Program) tomorrow and am planning to attend at least the Saturday events for Admitted Students' Weekend. I'll be sure to post on here about the experience!

I'm also working on figuring out housing options, so any insight is definitely appreciated! :)

Congrats on UChicago! Do you mind if i ask what type of prior experience you had in the field before applying, and how much of it? I'm also trying to figure out just what exactly I should be trying to get on my resume in the months before I start filling out applications

Sure! My undergrad was in speech & hearing science and my work experience has been mostly classroom-related (teaching English in Japan and working for a Montessori school). I do have a fair amount (2-ish years) of volunteer experience with local shelters and leadership roles on campus, but I think the most relevant experience that helped me was my AmeriCorps program, Public Allies. It's a service program focused on social justice and community leadership and I think that really strengthened my application and personal statements!

fenetian, I am applying there as well I will need to check that out. Mine has been marked verified correct for all but two items. I have had everything in for about 2 months yet they still aren't marked verified correct. It's a bit frustrating because they say that you will hear an answer about 8 weeks after everything is marked verified correct.

Hey flip456! Wanted to let you know that I spoke with an admissions rep at UIC today to check on my one unverified application item and she went through to check everything for me and now my application is (finally) under review! Hope things are under way for you too. Good luck!

  5. Not sure how many of you are applying to University of Illinois-Chicago's MSW program, but I recommend checking your status on the admissions login page. One of the documents I submitted (a fillable PDF) was deemed "illegible" but I never received any notification until I noticed a small note on the admissions site asking me to resubmit it.

Hope everyone else is having a smooth application experience!
