  1. Another application status question: For those who applied to Scripps, is your application still showing up as incomplete because of missing GRE scores or recommendations? All my rec letters have been sent and I'm 95% sure Scripps has received my scores, since all of my other schools have indicated that they have.
  2. As long as you were able to present your main ideas, write with coherence and sound logic up to the point you got cut off, and score relatively well on the other essay, I don't see a reason you'll get anything less than a 4. I've read about other people doing similar things and still getting ideal scores, however this is looking at a small sample size. I got cut off mid-sentence and ended up with a 5.5 (although I ran out of time much further into my essay).
  3. I can't speak for the program, but it's likely that they meant six weeks from the time you took your test, assuming that you had selected to send scores to that program on the day of the test. Six weeks is the standard amount of time it takes for paper test results to be released and sent to schools. Sending scores that are already official would presumably take a much shorter time. In any event, you might want to contact the program to let them know when your scores were sent, just to be on the safe side. Edit: Looks like this is from UW's application. It goes on to say, "Candidates should plan to take the GRE well in advance of the application deadline to ensure that scores are delivered by the application deadline." In context, it looks like they did mean six weeks from the test date. I'm sure you'll be fine! Edit edit: I did some more sleuthing (finals can wait, right?), and that program says they only need official GRE scores by Jan. 4. They'll go off of self-reported scores until then.
  4. I'm saving that monster of a thread until I submit my last application tomorrow, so I have something to occupy my nerves during the waiting period, ha.
  5. Thanks for digging this up @LittleCritterB, I enjoyed perusing this thread. Sorry about your typo. Don't stress it; it's probably so insignificant that it won't affect your chances. Can we make a post dedicated to silly typos? You know, to lighten the mood of application season.
  6. You did Amgen right? Well, I did too (this past summer) and feel the EXACT same way as you do. I applied to a bunch of incredible schools and 2 top 30's. After doing research at such a high caliber institution, it's hard to settle for anything less. But applying to all these great schools and seeing everyone else's stats on gradcafe makes me feel... average (despite the fact that the stat distribution on this site is so skewed). Anyway, I wish you the best of luck, and I'm looking forward to seeing how our results play out!
  7. Thanks for your reply. Exactly, it's hard to rationalize things when it comes to anxiety. One piece of advice I read recently said to look at yourself from an outsider's point of view, and to give yourself the advice you would give a friend going through the same thing. Also, I found this thread yesterday. It's from 2009, but discusses basically the same issues, including imposter syndrome. I found it pretty helpful.
  8. With all of the topics in this forum about chances, SOPs, etc., this is a bit of a different subject, but I feel like it's relevant to a lot of us applying this fall. Who else is dealing with depression and/or anxiety while filling out and submitting applications? I'm sitting here unable to sleep with my mind racing with questions about whether I'll get in anywhere, what I could have done better, and where I will be in a year. That combined with the amount of regular coursework I have is, to put it lightly, overwhelming. I'm sure others are going through the same thing. For applicants from previous years reading this, it would be really helpful if you could reply with any insights/suggestions on how to deal with potential depression and anxiety that sets in during application season.
