It's absolutely gorgeous in Washington. I'm big on outdoorsy stuff, so I am excited that I'll have so much hiking, camping, mountain climbing, etc. to do. I've been living in a big metropolitan area for the past 5 years, so it will be nice to have the mix of city and nature that Seattle offers.
Gah this kills me. I'm accepted to Western Washington's masters program and do a lot of outdoor activities (camping, backpacking) which would be AMAZING in Bellingham. But I'm also accepted to William and Mary and think it's probably a better masters program. I'd hate giving up that outdoorsy culture. :/

It's been more than a month since I interviewed with Johns Hopkins....Has anyone heard from them?

I recently got admitted to the MA programs at the College of William and Mary and Wake Forest University. I consider these to be "upper level" since they seem to provide good research training as well as funding. If you want to know my stats feel free to pm me! On a side note, I would love to hear what other people think of those two programs!
Same about loving to hear what other people think of Western Washington and William and Mary. I have funding for both and I think pretty good research opportunities at each. Which is great, but makes it hard to weigh them against each other and make a decision.
Here's some quick stats. If anyone wants more detail, pm me.
GRE: 162 V, 155 Q, 4.0 AW
GPA: 3.8
Research experience: 3+ years, completed an undergrad thesis

What are some of the stats of these people that are getting accepted into these upper level MA programs?
Which ones are considered upper-level?

After looking at the Graduate Study in Psychology Reference Guide for 2015 that's in my library, it looks like approx. 50% (maybe a little more) are accepted to the MA program and of those accepted, approx. 50% accept. If you would like exact numbers for the program @passenger47 I would be happy to pass them along to you. If you don't mind me asking, when did you receive the MA acceptance? It seems early for that program.
Congrats on your acceptances by the way! Do you know where you will be accepting yet? Or where you're leaning towards?
I got the email on February 19th from NYU. I also thought it was strangely early for an MA program. If you have those numbers, I am weirdly curious and would be interested in having them.
I'm still waiting to hear from the one PhD program where I had a campus interview. In the meantime, I'm making a spreadsheet comparing the MA programs (because spreadsheets solve everything!). Mostly I'm just feeling relieved to have choices.
If anyone has helpful info about Western Washington's or William and Mary's experimental psych masters programs in particular, I'd be interested in hearing! (Or general advice about comparing masters programs.)

@lovemc and @FeelTheBern - Yup on the PhD rejection, MA acceptance. I'm interested in the percentage that are accepted, too, or at least the logic behind accepting all the PhD rejects to the MA program. (I suspect $$$?)

Just heard back from Villanova about getting accepted, which was my top choice for a master's program. Pretty stoked Not a single other program has gotten back to me though (Northern Arizona, Western & Eastern Washington, and American). Anyone hear from these programs?
I just got an acceptance from Western Washington Experimental MA. I was told that official one from the department should be coming soon.

Whine: The racket of sending transcripts and the extortion money I've had to fork over for my own transcripts. Okay, I guess it's really not THAT bad or the end of the world, but I HATE paying $10 more to regain access to the PDF (!!) of my own transcript.
Whine done....I feel better already!

Have any of you heard from Stony Brook?
I applied to their integrative neuroscience but have not heard from them. I emailed their graduate coordinator a few days ago and she said the quickest way to find out if interviews have been sent out is to directly contact professors. I haven't done this yet, kind of putting it off.
Has anyone heard from University of Oregon cognitive neuroscience?
-
In case anyone else was interested, I emailed University of Oregon and University of Washington graduate coordinators about interview invites. University of Washington behavioral neuroscience is done extending invites for this round of interviews and University of Oregon cognitive neuroscience is sending them out by the end of this week.
Also learned that when Brandeis says you can't submit more than one grad application per academic year, they meant AT ALL, not just within one department (learned after I had submitted and paid the app fee for the Neuroscience MS...my bad for not understanding the instructions...)

I was about to lose my mind when I saw an email from University of Chicago graduate admissions. It's a newsletter...an evil, misleading newsletter....

School Name: Johns Hopkins
Date Interview Invite Received: 1/4/2016, 1/13/2016
Degree: PhD
Track: Biopsychology
Notified via: Phone Call, follow-up email
From: POI, follow-up email from department

At the risk of sounding hopelessly desperate... does anyone want to claim that University of Washington Behavioral Neuroscience interview? And if so, who's the POI?

I also received an e-mail for a skype call with one of my POI's at the cog neuro program at UT Austin. Curious who your call is with, if you don't mind of course.
I had a Skype interview but wasn't offered a campus interview. I'll PM you the POI I Skyped with, though!

Have you heard from NYU psych? It sounds like they have at least begun to review apps because a couple of people got contacted by their POIs....seems pretty early for this program!
I really hope my POI is one of the lazy ones/is on vacation and hasn't contacted anyone yet!
Nope - haven't heard anything else! Saw those cognitive neuroscience submitted results. I was surprised they heard from POIs like on Christmas.
-
Hello! I applied to a mix of cognitive/behavioral neuroscience programs. Top choice is the University of Washington behavioral neuroscience program. I have a skype interview with one POI planned, but that is with the cognitive neuro program at UT Austin. I'm assuming any others will come in early January.

Hi all! Just got registered. Anyone applied or got interviews from University of Toronto and NYU?
Yup - applied to NYU! Haven't heard anything from them yet.

(PM-ing info about PI)

The compulsive email checking has been reinforced! POI at UT Austin emailed about setting up a Skype interview for early next week! I'm excited and nervous but mostly:

Okay, so I know that a bunch of applications aren't even due until the 15th of December, and a lot of review committees won't even look at applications until after winter break...but AAAAAAAH!!!
The compulsive email and application status checking is getting a liiiittle out of hand. Anyone else in the same boat?
I also have no excuse for this behavior seeing as I applied last year and know that interview invites usually go out in early January...
-
I applied to the PhD Behavioral Neuroscience program for Fall 2016. It's my top choice so I'm crossing my fingers!
-
I have a couple of those in common! U of Washington, U of Oregon, UT Austin, Boulder, U Chicago, WashU St. Louis, Boston College, Johns Hopkins, Duke CNAP, Stony Brook, NYU, UMass Amherst. A few of those are behavioral neuroscience programs, but close enough. I'll also probably apply to a few Master's programs in Jan/Feb.
-
I've been lurking around Grad Cafe for awhile but made an account when I saw this!
Second time applying, retook the GRE (twice) this time around. I also improved basically every aspect of my application so I'm getting my hopes up (probably too high) this time around!
I'm applying to cognitive and behavioral neuroscience programs.
I'm trying to figure out how to make a nifty signature, but until then:
Submitted: 8/12
Interviews: 0/12
Accepted: 0/12
Rejected: 0/12

I was offered a spot at Johns Hopkins and accepted last week! I am overjoyed! Now I just need to figure out how to move across the country....
