Hi I'm from Illinois also and did my undergrad at UIUC. I studied journalism/communication so I don't have all the information, but I'm like 70% sure that UIUC has one of the most renowned speech and hearing science departments in the country. I think they are ranked between #1 and #4 so if you have the opportunity I would definitely go with UIUC. It also depends on your financial package, but if you can really try to shoot for U of I it will be so beneficial, hope this helps!

Do you know what school you're leaning towards?? And I called NYU they said that the committee met on Friday and that notices probably went out Monday or Tuesday. This person may be out of touch with whats going on because notices went out Sunday and she said all of this earlier this morning. Maybe it will trickle in soon, I'm not expecting acceptance but I would like to know my application was considered... Its the least they can do lol.

congrats! I got accepted to USF as well and I'm heading to Tampa next week to check it out so I can make a final decision. I can let you know what I find out!

I don't have much experience with this particular thing, but i have had people tell me that i was not capable of getting accepted to a PhD program. The joke is on them because I got accepted to great programs! I just want to encourage you to follow your dreams and don't let anything hold you back! There are programs out there that will be willing to work with you, you just have to research them! I know you can do it!?

Is it a bad idea to accept an offer to a school you've never visited? Picking UMICH over USF seems like a no brainer, but if I decline USF that means that I'm basically accepting UMICH because I only received those two offers. On the other hand, I'm struggling with the idea of spending my own money to go visit USF when Michigan was my first choice and I know deep down it would be kind of ridiculous to turn them down. Any advice?? so confused right now.. P.S. this wasn't an issue to people start asking me what if I hate Ann Arbor, which I had never thought about before but I guess its possible....

Hello everyone, Just saying hello. I submitted two apps last week and I feel completely drained. I hope everyone is doing well and maintaining positive vibes during this application cycle. I know I'm extra late, but I thought talking with other people who understand this process might make the waiting time less daunting. =)
