  1. So all UCB admits are out for EE?
  2. @sjoh197 God that must feel terrible. I made sure to learn that as soon as I started EE to not make a fool of myself haha. There's always Youtube though, so no excuses Edit: Wait a second, replacing a battery is absolutely trivial. For some reason I was thinking of jumpstarting a battery :/
  3. Who the hell doesn't know how to use a vacuum? And I thought I was ignorant when it comes to cleaning... @raaawr No problem! Thanks for the help
  4. @gelologist and @raaawr: Deadlines for my PhD applications was Dec 15, I got the acceptance from the MSc program on the 22nd. I did not know I would be attending, so I only listed my BS in the applications.
  5. @piglet33 Thanks a bunch for the pointers! So guys, I'm in a strange situation. I applied to 6 colleges last year - a MSc for Spring 2016, and 5 PhD programs for Fall 2016. I got an acceptance from the MSc program, and now I'm enrolled for this semester. The program is not top level, but has good benefits, and I'm feeling OK with it. However, my plan now is to see where I'm accepted out of the 5 PhD programs, and if I get a good option, I'll just leave this program and start over with a PhD in the fall. In a way, I'm treating the MSc program as a semester-long internship. A week ago I was informally accepted at GATech (yay!), and will be chatting with the program coordinator over Skype. Here is my question: do I mention that I'm currently enrolled in a MSc program, at least temporarily? Will it hurt my chances at being taken seriously? Do you think I can I use the stipend and benefits I'm currently getting as a bargaining chip when interviewed?
  6. The head of the group of my top choice sub-field at Georgia Tech contacted me a week back and mentioned that he is going to recommend me for a TA position right from the first year. He also said that if I have any questions we can discuss them over Skype. Should I have a Skype call with him? I really don't know what to ask about the program. Any suggestions? I have not received an acceptance yet, but I assume he's confident I'll be accepted?
  7. I'm also applying for a PhD in EE, with a focus on VLSI and mixed-signal circuit design. I am not aware of a group focusing on electronics here to be frank.
  8. I asked the MIT EECS admissions department and they said admission letters will be going out through February. If you don't receive one by the end of Feb, I guess you should assume a reject. Let's pray guys
  9. MIT EECS decisions will be made throughout February. If you don't receive anything by the end of Feb, assume rejection.
  10. @nallapar Phew.. I guess there still is a small chance then. I wish you luck as well!
  11. @nallapar Does that include EE?
  12. No problem friend! And congratulations on being accepted!
  13. Thanks Luis! And good luck to you too! @basna - It lists what further documents you need to submit by Jan 10: medical, GRE score report, TOEFL/IELTS, and official transcript. It also mentions which research project from the two you chose in the application you've been accepted as an RA for. And that you need to attend by Jan 2 or 3, if your visa is ready of course.
  14. Sure man. GRE: 165 Q, 157 V, 4 AW, TOEFL: 114 BSc in EE: 3.86, 1 conference paper, 1 internship Thanks! I wish you all the best guys!
  15. I just got accepted into the Microsystems MSc program
  16. Applied this week to PhD in EE at Berkeley, GATech, Purdue, UMich, Masdar, and NCSU. I'm going to submit my application to MIT by tonight. I plan on applying to Duke and UT Dallas by the end of the month as well. Wish me luck!
  17. I called Masdar today and they said that all notifications should be out by the middle of next week.
  18. Congratulations! I wish you the best Did they contact you via email? Or did you have to check the status online?
  19. Yep, same here. I applied for MSc in Microsystems Engineering. Radio silence for over a week now. It's getting too late honestly. I've applied to other colleges for Fall, but I'm not sure what I'll do for a whole semester if Masdar doesn't respond.
