  1. @Necrovex they work very hard to find their students
  2. @maester from my knowledge on APA accreditation, I think it plays a role in licensure. Each state has their own standards for how you can gain licensure. I would play it safe and only attend a school that is APA and NASP accredited. APA in general just has higher standards for what constitutes a psychologist.
  3. @Necrovex all students typically receive funding. Tuition covered and a stipend.
  4. @maester I am in the PhD program now at USF, and I think you sound very competitive. I applied with slightly lower GRE scores, a publications, 3 or so presentations, senior honors thesis, clinical experience, volunteer work, 3.8 gpa, honors, etc. etc. etc. I actually didn't have any experience inside the school systems, so you definetly have me beat on that. I ended up getting a fellowship at USF, so I'm sure you would be an extremely competitive applicant! Everybody better watch out .
  5. You guys should all come to USF! It's an amazing school. There are a plethora of opportunities available for the students.
  6. @gradgoal I attended the Univeristy of Kentucky. I would be skeptical of UK and UL. Kentucky just experienced a huge budget cut, and it's hard for students to receive funding. If you private message me I can send you a lot more details.
  7. @ohhappyday My main suggestion would be for students to dedicate a substantial amount of time researching the professors. You don't want to spend a lot of money on graduate applications, fly to your interview, and then realize you have no similar interest with the faculty. This is especially important if you plan on attending a program that's mentorship based.
  8. @LKK I'm looking to stay at the Element in downtown tampa. I haven't really looked at apartments near campus. I'm mainly going off of friend's suggestions.
  9. @BOUGIE yes I have already accepted USF, and I plan to move down there in July. I really love their campus and the faculty I will be working with are amazing.
  10. @BOUGIE congrats! Do you know if you're going to accept the offer yet?
  11. @Bluescluess I would email back the person who sent you your admission decision.
  12. @Bluescluess it's a good idea to email the schools you're wait listed on, express excitement at the possibility to attend the school, and see what is the status of your position.

@empress-marmot I knew commute would be bad, but that sounds absolutely horrible. I'm now considering living in downtown Tampa, preferably at the Element.
  14. @lwqsr3211 I definetly think so too. I haven't been able to find one that has anymore information. I found that link because a university had it on their facebook page.
  15. @New Applicant This is one of the few ranking sites I have seen. http://www.bestcounselingdegrees.net/best/doctoral-programs-school-psychology/
  16. I guess I'm the only one going to USF ?
  17. @tania5493 I would generally in about a week you will be notified.
  18. @neonossuary I think funding is important, but it shouldn't be the sole reason why you pick a program. There are many characteristics that make schools different, so I would evaluate each school and consider the ones I like the best. If you find one that you just have a burning desire to go to, but your funding offer isn't as great, my professor said that you could negotiate increasing your offer. However, the one that I have a burning desire to go to would be the one that I would pick. You don't want to get into a program and regret not making the right choice.
  19. @psychschool I applied to PhD programs. I do know that EdS programs are not usually funded, but I would definitely still ask about assistanships.
  20. @kingslayer I have a guy in my class that said last years funding for his program was so bad that they could only give out 3k stipends. It happens. That's why I'm hoping for a fully funded program. Nothing passed the first year is really guaranteed.
  21. @Love3 that's so great. Did you me up picking the school that was your top choice?
  22. @Love3 it really depends on funding. Right now it's between Arizona and USF, and I've already received a nice funding offer from Arizona. I haven't heard from USF yet.
  23. @Love3 I wish I could go ahead and accept, but I heard you should wait until you hear back from all of your funding offers first.
