  1. Thanks for your response! I'm thinking of doing the same, at the least changing into flat shoes instead of heels for the evening activities
  2. Is anyone interviewing for Weill Cornell PBSB on Jan 20-22? I just got the detailed schedule of events and I noticed that on Thursday we're doing things from 7:45am to midnight, including attending talks, getting tours, and some of our interviews with faculty. The evening consists of fun activities with the grad students. My question is, what would you wear for this? I have a nice dress and blazer I was going to wear with tights and boots for the interview but there's so many activities all day I wonder if I should bring clothes to change out of for after interviews?
  3. Are you talking about Stanford? I called several times today but no one answered.... (I called the biophysics contact though since that was my first choice) But anyway just thought it was strange...
  4. I thought I would be seeing more Berkeley MCB interview invitations on here and the results forum since this is the week they're inviting people... but I've only seen postings from people who received a call prior to this week :/
  5. Has anyone heard anything about Stanford Biosciences Biophysics? I haven't seen any posts on the results forum yet... Also still waiting on UCSF Tetrad (if they're sending out more invites) and UC Berkeley MCB (said we'd know by Jan 8).... Feeling nervous
  6. No, nothing was mentioned to me about the POIs. Hopefully we'll know before we attend!
  7. Oh good! Glad it worked out. Good luck to you as well.
  8. I don't know. I would think she would contact everyone who was invited but can't attend as soon as they can decide when an alternate date could be.
  9. No, I decided to tell them a while back that I would go Jan 20-22 since I wasn't sure they would offer another date. I just decided to not attend the interview I was less interested in that conflicted. PBSB emailed me just now and gave me the schedule for Jan 20-22.
  10. No word on an alternative date. I emailed to ask about travel arrangements and they said we will be contacted after the 4th.
  11. I just RSVPd to the January dates they offered and turned down the interview that conflicted because PBSB was a higher priority for me and I was afraid that they might not offer another date or that they might offer just an interview session and not a full three day visit again... I hope it works out for you though!
  12. I have not heard back yet... hopefully they'll contact us this coming week
  13. Oh, interesting! Ok sorry just saw this. Mine was for PBSB and I talked to them yesterday evening, so not sure what's up with that
  14. I asked and they responded to me. They said they won't know until after January 4th if any alternate interview will be offered. (I guess they want to give everyone a chance to complete the survey form and then decide if an alternate date is necessary.) They're a top school for me though so at that point I just told them I could make it to Jan 20-22 and decided to forgo my interview at the other school that it conflicted with....
  15. Hey, has anyone asked Weill Cornell about an alternate interview weekend besides Jan 20-22? Just wondering what the dates would be (if they're doing an alternate weekend). I emailed them a couple of days ago but no response yet.
  16. Hey I have a question for you! Did they mention any dates? I see on their website that they say interviews are Jan 31-Feb 2 or Feb 21-23, but I know my UC Davis interview conflicts with the second one so just wondering if you think they'd let us pick.... (That is, if I get an interview at all! Haha Jan 4 can't get here soon enough)
  17. I got the invite as well! But both interview sessions conflict with other interviews I have
  18. My dad is a physics professor at a top research institution. He attributes most of his success to his Ivy League education (and his mentor, of course). He thinks that I should go to the mostly highly ranked institution I get into (provided I interview and feel that it's a great fit as well). And, if you think about it this way - top schools have more potential mentors who are top in their field and well-known. You can't lose by going to a top-tier school.
  19. Are you also dealing with UPenn/Weill Cornell ? Just curious
  20. Ok guys, so I need your advice. I was invited to interviews at both the University of Pennsylvania and Weill Cornell and Cornell's interview dates are Jan 20-22 while Penn's are 21-23. These are both top choices for me and neither program suggested an alternate date... I know I can ask but I worry it might look like they're not a top choice for me or something. And I wouldn't know which one to ask for an alternate date for. Thoughts?? I really don't want to miss the major interview weekend for either one!
