  1. Is being wait-listed a plausible outcome? This happened to me with Michigan too. Nobody has had fresh results from them on the results forum for like a week and a half. They had a string of acceptances, then a big batch of rejections. Then silence. Wondering what that means. In the interest of full disclosure, I mistakenly ordered my GRE scores sent on a timetable that got them there exactly 1 day after the application deadline for both schools.
  2. Is it odd that I have neither an acceptance nor a rejection from MIT?
  3. I'm still waiting to hear back from Michigan despite there being a lot of results, both acceptances and rejections, on the results page. Would it be appropriate to send an email like this to the professor I want to work for? I have never emailed this person previously: Dear Dr. XYZ, I am writing to introduce myself as you review my application. I am interested in your work in the field of X and was particularly interested in your article Y. As I discussed in my SOP, I would be interested in working in your lab group. I'm looking forward to hearing from you! Sincerely, ....
  4. I am still waiting to hear from the following programs: MIT, Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Michigan, Colorado Am I likely to be rejected if I don't have an acceptance yet? In the case of Michigan, both many acceptances and rejections are already on the results forum. Might that mean I am waitlisted?
  5. I see on the results page that 5 people got acceptances to Northwestern Chemistry today. I applied there but haven't heard anything yet. Unfortunately, Northwestern required the GRE Chemistry subject test score. I got a 640 which is 32nd percentile. I am otherwise a competitive applicant, with GREq 159 (75%), GREv 167 (97%), GREw 5.0 (93%), GPA 3.53, double major in chemistry and chemical engineering, 3 years of research experience but no publications, and 3 very good or excellent letters. Basically, would Northwestern accept everybody at once or would it come in waves? I've already been accepted to UT Austin, but they didn't ask for the chemistry subject test score. I also applied to Harvard, Stanford, MIT, Yale, Michigan, and Colorado.
  6. I see on the results page that a lot of people have been accepted to Yale. I applied but have not heard from them either way. Time to be concerned? I have 3 years research experience, good letters, GPA 3.53, GREq 75%, GREv 97%, GREw 92%, didn't send GREchem because it was 33%. I have been accepted to UT Austin with a TA offer. I have applied to MIT, Stanford, Harvard, Northwestern, Yale, UT Austin, Michigan, and Colorado.
