So I emailed both UNC and Emory yesterday ( I know, I know.. I'm impatient ) and I got replies this morning, UNC is about 3/4 of the way done with reviewing apps. There are still interview offers to be sent and they will most likely be done no later than the end of next week. They don't have a final decision for me yet so fingers crossed!! Emory's MMG sent out several rejections yesterday and I was told I wasn't among them. About an hour later I got an email that I was waitlisted. I'm not surprised, and I'm glad I know now. Good luck to everyone leaving for interviews today, you'll do great!!

I think all schools have a set number of days allowed off for grad students, and then hopefully just discuss it and work it out with the professors and department at some point. My best friend is getting married next summer and I'm her MoH so I know I'll have to take some time off for her wedding, I'm hoping it'll all go well.

I applied to UNC BBSP as well! They still have some invites to send and from what I've seen we should know this week or next week.

I feel like I'm basically waiting for rejections from Emory and UNC at this point. Especially with the recent flood of Emory rejections in the survey. I just wish either way I'd get an official email soon so I could know for sure

I'm booking my flight today! I know the dates and I'll send them my travel times when they email me back, but since I'm in the second of the two weekends I think they're focusing on the details and times of those going the weekend of the 15th for now.

I last talked with Dr. Bowman before Christmas, and she just said I'd be responsible for booking the flight there. Hopefully they'll be in contact with us sometime this week!!! Although I'm not going til the 29th so maybe it'll be a bit longer for me

Seeing as they liked your application enough to interview you I'm sure they won't forget your email! I understand that you're nervous though, I would be too. Being patient with this is so difficult. I applied to Microbiology (with Biodefense and Molecular Bio as alternative research disciplines). I think that BIMS has only sent out one wave of interviews so far on the 15th and 16th, so I'd expect more to come out soon!

I applied to UNC BBSP as well! From what I've seen in past threads, this one, and the survey they're not done with sending out interviews until the 2nd or 3rd week of january. But I'm dying to hear back from them as well, they're one of my top choices.

I've been in contact with the three schools I have interviews with after I replied to them. Two contacted me back within the day, and another took about 2 days to email me back. If you responded to your emails in the past week or so I'd give it a couple more days before following up since most schools were closed towards the end of last week because of Christmas.

UNC BBSP (Microbiology and Immunology) and Emory GDBBS Microbiology and Molecular Genetics. I know both of them have already sent out several interviews.

Every time I get an email notification I rush to my phone like a crazy person, even though I know there's next to no chance I'll hear anything until after new years by this point. I'm dying to hear back from UNC and Emory at this point

I have interviews at Vanderbilt Jan 28th-30th, UGA Feb 4th-7th, and UVA on Feb 18th-20th! Got an email from Vanderbilt on the 14th, UVA on the 16th, and UGA on the 18th! I was out of town and had no internet access the 13th-20th of this month so I was crazy nervous that whole time. I also got an email yesterday that I was rejected from UMich PIBS. However, I got an email about 4 hours later from one of the professors on the adcomm that's in the MCDB faculty. She really liked my application and suggested to switch it to that department so they can look over it. Which after looking over the program I figured there was no harm in doing it so I'll be reviewed by them now!

Did my honors thesis project here (spent about 30-40 hrs/week over the summer doing benchwork, then doing stats and writing it up all throughout this fall). I'll be first author (of 3) on a paper in the process of being written using the data I obtained. I'll be 2nd author (of 3 or 4) on two more papers currently being written. Presented posters at 2 conferences. Assisted in writing one review article that's submitted for publishing (2nd author out of 3).
