  1. Following as I was accepted into U Delaware as well so i'm interested in the city of Newark.
  2. @liesandfish These decisions can give me anxiety! Everything is a gamble really when you think about it. I applied to: American - haven't heard back Arizona State - haven't heard back Rutgers - They're flying me out March 3/4 for my interview Univ. of Delaware - accepted with full funding and they're flying me out for recruitment on February 22nd/23rd Uc-Irvine - accepted with full funding I'm 80% sure I'll choose UC-Irvine but Rutgers could definitely sway my decision depending on the visit. It's really close to all of the political action and I love policy.
  3. Well you definitely have options which is good. I've always been told to stay away from a program that won't offer you funding for a PhD as it's just not worth it. I also have three undergraduate degrees so I'm really not interested in spending more $$$. I saved a lot getting my masters for free by working for a university.
  4. @liesandfish so sorry to hear you did not get funded. What are your other options as far as what programs you applied to besides FSU?
  5. I've only done one thus far (I'll interview at Rutgers in march) but during my UCI visit, I really tried to focus on my research interests as well as experience thus far. I think it helped that I was able to relax during the interview and really get down to what I wanted to pursue. I would say be yourself and be prepared to discuss your research interests as well as what's led you to those interests. It would also help to ask thoughtful questions about the program that have yet to be answered.
  6. All of the acceptances I've gotten have been by phone and Rutgers emailed me regarding the interview!
  7. I've been trying to stay away from discussion boards because I was so nervous about acceptances and rejections but finally I can say, I was accepted into UCI and University of Delaware with full funding and decent stipends. I was also invited out to Rutgers so I have to see what they offer funding wise before I make my final decision. This is a stressful process! Goodness.
  8. liesandfish, I really just decided based on the location. I really don't want to live in Orlando for five years. I like the program though. My interview at UCI went really well. I'm confident but you really never know. Just waiting to hear back from other programs at this point.
  9. Thank you liesandfish! Good luck with UCF, I ended up NOT applying.
  10. So glad I found this even though it's late in application season! I'll be graduating with my M.S. in Criminal Justice in May. Schools I've Applied To: UC-Irvine - Flying out for the interview next weekend American Rutgers Northeastern (maybe - not really enough faculty that have research interests that I align with) Central Florida (very new program, but department members have told me that means they are eager to teach the best and brightest) ASU (polishing up that application right now Interests: Mass Incarceration, Prisoner Re-Entry, Wrongful Convictions, Race and Inequality I've presented at regional conferences, contributed to multiple presentations and I am first author on a manuscript in progress. GRE 149Q/154V/5AW GPA 3.94 My GRE scores suck but my letters of rec must have been amazing to get UCI to offer me an interview. Did I mention UCI is my top choice?! Nervous!
