  1. Anyone here going to Scripps? I feel so alone...
  2. Just got into two of my top programs, UCSF and Rockefeller! Great day today!
  3. Just curious, why didn't you ask for hotel accommodations? I live about an hour away (subway commute) from one of my interview schools and I asked for a room the night before the interview just because I thought it would be more convenient. Since the interview day starts around 8am - 9am, I didn't want to feel rushed or have to wear my nice clothes on dirty, smelly public transportation. I get that it might seem greedy to ask for lodging when I live in state, but I figure the school probably prepared for the cost and they still end up saving on travel expenses for me, anyway. ...Was that a bad idea?
  4. Skiing?! Which school? That's awesome! Though knowing me, I probably would've shattered my pelvis from repeatedly tumbling down the mountain, or falling off the ski lift. -__- Bad for first impressions.
  5. Anyone heard from or waiting on UC Berkeley Biophysics? That and Stanford Biophysics are killing me! Only one hour left until the admissions offices close for the weekend...thinking of twisting open a bottle of wine and doing a power hour, so at least by 5pm Pacific I'll be complacently juiced. -___-
  6. Not speaking for parafilm, of course, but sometimes the reason doesn't have to do with flaws in the applicant's personality, but rather lack of funding. Schools with less money (or public universities) probably prefer students with their own fellowships/external $$$ than those without. UC Berkeley in particularly makes a point on their website to emphasize how attractive applicants with funding support are to their program. So if you do nothing glaringly wrong during the interview and still get rejected, that might well be the reason?
  7. How did it go? Not knocking the roommate situation: it makes sense that this is the most cost-efficient way for schools to manage all their interviewees. But as someone who has had horrible experiences with roommates, I'm a little wary. After all, you're rooming with a complete stranger and technically a...competitor. I know I'm definitely being paranoid, but I guess I'm a little curious as well.
  8. Weird question: does anyone know about the rooming situation for their schools? Is it typical to have a single hotel room to yourself during interviews?
  9. Does anyone know what's up with UWisconsin-Madison IPiB? I saw one or two posts on the survey by people who got interviews on Dec 1, but...the app was due on that day. One of my friends emailed the office about it, and in response, they gave him an interview invite. Is there an actual date that they're trying to get the invites out by, or are they doing it in waves, or are they handing out invites to whoever asks? (haha I wish, but it's kind of weird!)
