  1. just check the awardee list: https://www.fastlane.nsf.gov/grfp/AwardeeList.do?method=loadAwardeeList did not get... VG/E, E/E, E/E
  2. I think it depends on the program. Mine sent out a faculty funding survey to us in July and told us to pick a first rotation lab by the beginning of September. So I contacted the first PI I rotated with in early August. He was happy to take me. Also, yes, include your CV. Generally, I've just expressed interest in rotating with them in my email, didn't go into detail.
  3. Sorry, don't often get on this site. Didn't know that we accepted international applicants before interview weekend, interesting.
  4. I believe around 60 applicants have been invited to interview. No problem!
  5. We want a BMCDB class of ~30 at Davis next year.
  6. The amount of faculty I interviewed with per weekend ranged from 4-7 if i'm remembering correctly. Usually the school will send you an itinerary with the list of faculty you'll be interviewing with 2 weeks in advance. I did have some that didn't let me know until the week of. For the first interview, I skimmed the interviewers' most recent papers. Then I just started skimming their websites (though those are usually out of date). You can totally bring a notepad, also helps when you have to draw a diagram about your research. I had to draw some experimental designs from a paper I had in review, since a lot of the faculty were unfamiliar with my UG research area. You're just interviewing with faculty, I did get interviewed by a grad student on the admissions committee at CU Anschutz though.

If you're looking to share a room with someone, under $1000/ person is definitely doable. It's $1400-$2000 for a 1 bd in the immediate Westwood vicinity. If you're looking to go cheaper, south of Wilshire, Culver City, and Palms are all areas you should look at.
  8. Did not get, VG/E, G/G, G/G. I guess my first reviewer liked me a lot more than the other two, but I didn't expect to receive the award anyway. Congrats to the winners!
  9. Starting a Biochemistry, Molecular, Cellular, Developmental Biology Ph.D. in the Fall. I know some people there, and I grew up 1.5 hours away from Davis, but have only been there twice. How's everyone's housing hunt going?
  10. Depends on the program. Some of the programs I interviewed at didn't distribute stipends for 2-5 weeks, so you have to support yourself until then.
  11. I just got back from their second interview weekend on Saturday and heard back today as well. I think they just wanted to interview all the recruits before they sent out decisions.
  12. Friend of mine was accepted about a week ago.
  13. Thanks, congrats to you too! Hmm, it was but now I'm not so sure. The fellowship is pretty appealing though.
  14. Me too!!!! Just checked my email and also got a fellowship!
