  1. That's a great sign that they want to admit you. Email if you want tips as I have interviewed.
  2. Hi All, I'm looking for housing starting in August and wonder if anyone has any ideas. I'd like a place that is a very short distance to the school with parking, etc., and with other social work students if possible. I want to avoid The Landmark (which is very closet the school) and the other apartments like them, as I think they will be too noisy for me and not the right atmosphere for my studies. My first choice was U of M's Munger Graduate Student Housing but it is full with a 300 person wait-list (: Does anyone need a roommate or have any suggestions?
  3. Hi BrendonMW, Thank you for the support and information about requesting an interview. I may do that but I also wrote a brief letter to Tim outlining my serious interest and how the program is a perfect fit for me and the school. Tim is the one who wrote me the letter a few weeks ago saying my decision would be delayed? Have you met with Tim and if so how did it go? I already met with Lauren last fall when I went for a tour and had a brief meeting with her.
  4. Ugh is howi I feel. Submitted 11/30 and still no decision. I have another offer but really want U of M. Can anyone describe how interviews go? I'm pretty anxious and have not asked for one.
  5. I think you need to respond by March 1st because that is also the deadline for the school to give early application decisions. Also, there are people still waiting for any decision and/ or are on a wait list. If you are not going to accept please let the school know so others can get some closure.
  6. Thanks KatieJaiYen. Can you tell me how the interview was structured? What type of questions did they ask etc..
  7. Did you do a Skpye or telephone interview? I was wondering if anyone has some insight as to whether I should request an interview. I got an email last week saying they are going to delay my decision at this time. I applied early admission for advanced standing and wonder if I should do anything next other than to wait. I don't know what else to do- the letter did not state that I needed to reply other than to let them know if I'd like to withdrawal my application.
  8. Yes I agree that the cost is so very high and Ann Arbor has a high cost of living you'll need to factor in. I didn't apply for any funding so it's going to be very expense if I get in. It's too bad the degree itself really doesn't have a good payback in terms of salaries. Perhaps the schools should put some of their efforts in the development of strategies to help raise the incomes levels for MSW graduates. I'm not doing it for the money-obviously like everyone in this field but I am going to try to maximize my income throughout my career as I believe we are worth it. Do you know if people who are accepted all have the same deadline or are they flexible in offering more time to respond? I'm up about 3lbs with this stress and hope to hear back before I'm a mess Thanks everyone for your thoughts.
  9. Thank you so much Anony2888. I'm sorry you got rejected. I wish the decision process was more transparent or even more interview based as the selection decisions are so mysterious and don't help you if you are rejected -with any feedback or reasoning that can help you in the future. Did you get into another program?
  10. I got a letter emailed to me last Friday. It stated they are delaying giving me a decision until a later date- I applied early admission so they were supposed to respond by 3/1. It said while they give decisions to many people as the applications are processed, in my case they will be delaying the decision until a later date and to notify them if I wanted to decline to continue with the process. I'm confused and so disappointed at this point and don't know what they are thinking and how they came to this decision. My guess is that they don't even want to waitlist me but are waiting to offer me a waitlist if more people decline their offers. The best case would be they are trying to accept me and are waiting to process the later applications. I just don't know and when I called they gave me not information other than to wait as they process the decisions. Do you know if it could of hurt me that I called several times? I did do a school tour and had a meeting with them before I applied and I was told I was in a very good position to get accepted. I never knew this was an option for me after the long wait and am so disappointed others are getting offers and scholarships before I even get a response. I just wonder what are the criteria they use. Have you ever heard of this type of response?
  11. Congrats BrendonSW! Have you decided where you will attend?
  12. I applied 11/30 for advanced standing. When I called two weeks ago I was advised I should hear back by the first 2 weeks in Feb. I'm afraid to call again. Do you think it would hurt to call?
  13. Still waiting to here back on acceptance. It's taking so long I'm bracing for the worst. This is my only school I want to go to and I thought I had a great application.
