    Solid state devices and nanotechnology.

I also went to the symposium, but I am pretty excited about this upcoming event. I am probably going to accept Michigan's offer, but I will wait till March. They were my first choice!!

The symposium? Yes I was there for that but really looking forward to this visit.

What research area are you getting into? I am getting into electromagnetics.

I received one admission as well from ASU as well as an invitation to a recruitment weekend, but I have not heard anything from other schools to which I applied (UCSD EE and University of Wahsington EE). I've also applied to bioengineering/BME at UCLA, UCI, UCSD, and ASU as well. No rejections/admissions/interviews or anything from the others.

I'm most interested in UCSD EE...has anyone heard anything from them at all?

Are you going to the ASU recruitment event? I got invited also and I am debating on going or not. What area are wanting to do research in? I am applying for e-mag stuff. Antennas, high frequency circuits,...

I see, that's comforting that MIT and Stanford haven't given out results yet.

@B00mt0wn when and how did you revieve Mich result? I was in talk with poi back in '15 summer and he promised to look for funding come January. But he suddenly stopped replying to mails...that's very discomforting..

I received an informal email from a professor that I had been in contact with. He just said that I had been accepted and that I would be receiving an official letter in the next few days. Well, the official letter came by email exactly one week afterwards. Florida was literally the same process except I got the official offer sooner. ASU gave me an unofficial email acceptance.

Anybody heard back from Stanford, MIT, Michigan or UIUC EE PhD? Got replies from my biomed list but no EE replies yet.

I have received acceptances from Michigan, Florida, and Arizona State. I also applied to UIUC, MIT, CMU, Cornell, Notre Dame, Northeastern, Colo. St., NYU, and NC St. I have not heard from the others yet.

just out of curiosity, what courses are you guys applying for and what are you planning to do with your degrees after?

Electrical Engineering, focus on electromagnetics, RF circuits, and antennas. I applied to twelve schools. hahaha!! I got a little carried away. I first applied to seven, only to realize that all of them were top tier. So of course I put in some more "safety" schools. I did get an acceptance this week from one of the top tier schools (U of Mich), so I'll just wait to see what else pops up.

MIT EECS acceptance emails are out? Just saw a couple on admission results page.

Maybe some informal emails from professors just telling them ahead of time. I got an email from a Michigan professor, but I haven't got the official letter. I also got an email from a professor from Florida last night around 7:30pm mountain time, which would be 9:30pm eastern. So maybe MIT professors are just doing similar things. I also applied to MIT, of course, but have yet to hear anything, but one of my letters was only submitted on Jan 3rd. So who knows.

So I got accepted to one program with an awesome funding package, merit award, and a PI who is really awesome and does a lot of cool stuff. It sucks waiting to hear back from everywhere else now, because all of my friends/family don't understand that just because I got accepted, I haven't already made my decision. Everyone has just assumed I'll be going to the school I've been accepted to, and that I should just forget about the 9 other schools I'm waiting to hear from. And while I LOVE the school I've been accepted to and the funding for a Master's is amazing and I would be able to do so much interesting research there... I still want to see what happens!! ugh. waiting sucks.

I am also in the same boat. I put in twelve total apps. I got one acceptance to a top ten engineering school, which allows me to not care about the safety schools I applied for, but I am still anxiously awaiting the other top tier schools.

  9. Undergrad Institution: Lowly Ranked UNM
Major(s): EE with an E-Mag track
    Minor(s): Math
    GPA in Major: 4.0
    Overall GPA: 4.0
    Position in Class: Top
Type of Student: Domestic. Male, Minority (but most likely different than any of you)

    GRE Scores (revised/old version):
    Q: 160
    V: 156
    W: 4

Research Experience: Barely started a lab assistant student job. No publications of any sort

    Awards/Honors/Recognitions: NSF Scholarship

Pertinent Activities or Jobs: Internship with local company doing pcb design and layout. Peer mentor job

Special Bonus Points: I've taken a grad complex variables class and electrodynamics class. My minority status is very unique, I am en ex-con that served 8.5 years in the federal system on drug charges, but I have obviously made a turn-around.

    Applying to Where:

I applied to twelve schools, all PhD for Fall 2016

Last night got an informal email from a prof.at U of Michigan saying that I have been admitted and that I would receive a formal admission letter and offer of financial aid in the next couple of days. This is the first response that I have got from any of the schools, but I'm not upset with this one. I had been in contact with this professor before I submitted my app. I emailed him about his research and then told him my story and we then spoke on the telephone. I'm not sure if anyone else has been contacted, but good luck!
