  1. Showed up in my inbox at 9:41 am PST! I was literally checking this forum for news when it showed up!
  2. I GOT IT!!!! Holy cow I am in utter shock! 2nd year PhD student here, was expecting absolutely nothing this year!
  3. If your letter didn't explicitly state that you were admitted, that means the admission decision will be made after you visit the campus. Therefore, it's extra important that you visit and make a good impression on the professors with whom you have an interview.
  4. I'm in devices! But definitely not inclined towards photonics (at all). My friend in comp arch also received a decision, as did my other friend @Edotdl who's interested in more interdisciplinary neuro/bio-related EE research.
  5. Yes, they did! I ain't even mad about MIT anymore #westcoastbestcoast
  6. @aksiksi Thank you so much! It does seem as though UCB has released all of their acceptances already for EECS. It's possible they might extend more offers if people decide to decline theirs (I am completely guessing about this second point; I have not heard anything about a waitlist existing). And to reiterate @iChris93's point, UMich is ongoing. I mentioned fellowship support, which is ≠ standard RA support that professors are expected to offer to the students they take (at least in electrical engineering, anyway). I'd say that a professor expressing strong intent to work with you is a great sign! Good luck!
  7. Me! I applied for devices and nanotechnology, so definitely EE. I think it's possible for admissions to happen on a rolling basis, and I suspect they contacted people who will receive fellowship support first! I'm a she. I also don't think ECE masters results have been released yet for Purdue, so no worries. Good luck!
  8. I totally feel you on not being a "shoe-in" -- it's so hard to gauge where you stand, even with qualifications as great as yours (or any one else who's posted their stats on this forum!). Admission is dependent on so many other factors that really are out of our control. Congrats on your success, it's well deserved! I'm also still mostly waiting on Stanford (I would say MIT, but I am so done with cold weather... never again, I hope). But considering that my SO has also been offered admission to Berkeley EECS Ph.D, I highly doubt we could pull off a feat like that again! So, I'm looking forward to seeing you guys at Berkeley visit days!
  9. I applied for physical electronic devices! Also, this is kind of a random question, but I suspect that the acceptances given out today were for EE people, and I have a feeling that CS hasn't sent out any official acceptances yet. Anyone have a similar hunch? I have friends in CS whom I'm crossing my fingers for. EDIT: My boyfriend was just admitted for CS Ph.D at UC Berkeley, as was another one of my friends. There was a 2 hour delay between the EE admits and the CS admits!
  10. Just got accepted to my dream school, UC Berkeley. There's nothing better I could've possibly asked for! I'm still shaking with adrenaline!
  11. A lot of places! Berkeley EECS, Stanford EE, MIT EECS, Caltech EE, UIUC ECE, Princeton EE, Cornell ECE, Purdue ECE - all for direct PhD or combined MS/PhD. No rejections yet, but that's only a matter of time...
  12. Just as an update, I was officially admitted to UT Austin and the University of Michigan this past weekend, all for solid-state electronics/nanotechnology. Good luck, everyone!
  13. Undergrad Institution: Top 10 school for EEMajor(s): Electrical EngineeringMinor(s): Computer ScienceGPA in Major: 4.0Overall GPA: 3.8Position in Class: Probably top 10 - 15%? Not sure.Type of Student: Domestic femaleGRE Scores (revised/old version):Q: 166V: 161W: 5.5Research Experience: 1.5 years + 1 summer at home institution in circuit design. 1 summer research experience at top EE institution in devices. 1 semester at home institution in devices. No publications. Awards/Honors/Recognitions: Eta Kappa Nu, Dean's List, other miscellaneous GPA-based awards. Awarded funding from department to conduct undergrad research. Summer research away from home institution supported by NSF funding. Nominated for departmental scholarships at home institution. Pertinent Activities or Jobs: Tutor 1-2 students/semester. Have been a TA for 4 semesters and counting.Any Miscellaneous Accomplishments that Might Help: Not really anything super spectacularSpecial Bonus Points: Letter recommenders are famous Stanford and Berkeley alum. A+'s in classes related to field of interest for Ph. D. Any Other Info That Shows Up On Your App and Might Matter: I have reasonable involvement on campus, taking leadership positions and other mentoring/volunteering activities for engineering students. Oh, and I'm a strong, strong advocate for women in EECS/STEM in general. Applying to Where: All Ph.D programs with focus on devices. Berkeley EECS Stanford EE MIT EECS Caltech EE UMich ECE UIUC ECE Princeton EE Cornell ECE Purdue ECE UT Austin EE I was recently contacted by Stanford for interviews. The first was pretty short, around the 20 minute mark as Edotdl mentioned. I have also been contacted by a POI at UT Austin!
