Accepted off the waitlist at Wisconsin! Definitely accepting the offer

Just declined Wisconsin, Arizona, and UNC.
Hey do you mind sharing your AOI?

Hey guys so as you can see in my signature I am currently waitlisted at Wisconsin-Madison and Missouri. I have a question about what happens if I get accepted off of one of the waitlists on like April 14th or 15th. Do I still need to decide by April 15th? Or do I get an extension past that because it seems pretty unreasonable to only have a day or a few hours to make a decision.
Thanks for any help.

Anyone possibly going to decline Wisconsin-Madison?
-
It looks like they've sent out acceptances and waitlists. I'm assuming people that haven't heard back are rejected.

A few CUNY rejections are on the results pg, one says solicited but the other has no notes. If this was you, did you solicit as well?
I emailed them last week and they said they were still finalizing... this is my last school, can't wait for the process to be done with.
The other CUNY rejection also says it was solicited. The note is in the one above it.

Waitlisted at Missouri. Received an email from Andre Ariew.

Anyone else still waiting to hear from Michigan? No rejection yet
I'm also still waiting on Michigan. Expecting a rejection though.

I am formally declining my rejections from: Emory, MSU, Oregon, U New Mexico, and Villanova.
Hope this helps someone out!
Declining your rejections? It's a bold strategy Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for her.

6 universities that i've applied to have sending out offers and rejections. I've only heard from one. So, i'm just sitting here...
I've applied for Economics PhDs to start this fall (2016). Ohio State has sent offers a-plenty, rejections too, as has Columbia. Arizona State, Uni of Washington (Seattle) and Washington St L have sent acceptances, but not rejections. And, just to re-iterate, i've heard NOTHING.
Has anybody any idea what's going on...
You're in the Philosophy thread. Might wanna head over to the Economics one

Waitlisted at Wisconsin. So you're telling me there's a chance?

Anyone heard back from Columbia yet?
Nobody has posted anything about Columbia. They usually don't start sending anything out until March.

Hi, I'm claiming one of the UMD posts.
I'm currently debating between UMD and Indiana. UMD is a bit lower ranked overall but they have a stronger program in my area of interest (mind and cognitive science). If anyone has any thoughts on choosing between overall stronger programs and programs with strong specialties, I'd be interested in your input.
The advice I've generally heard is to care more about the rank within your area of interest.

Looks like University of Toronto acceptances and wait-lists are coming in. Guess I should assume a rejection from there too now?
If you mean for PhD, then definitely not because the posts have been for masters. And even for Masters I'd say no because there are only 2 posts so I would think they're not done sending out acceptances/waitlists.

@Nat_Foot do you think you could contact Missouri? So far there's just have the one person accepted with fellowship on feb 1. Seems pretty late for them.
-
And message me if you want to discuss anything about the program! I really love it here; it's great.

I got the same email, but I'm quite pleased. I think I can make the finances work... It was one of my top choices as well, but might be good prep for graduate school... I don't have a strictly philosophy backgroud so this is probably something I need.
Yeah I'd be much more excited if I thought I could make the finances work. But I'm not really sure if I can.

Rejected from cmu phd but accepted to the masters which gives half tuition scholarship. I'm also undergrad at cmu so I can do a 1 year masters if I want to.
Its nice to know I'll be going to grad school in the fall but this also really sucks. Was my top choice

Not sure if undergrads that have taken graduate level classes do something like that. I wouldn't think so though.

What does "GPA is grad" mean? Like, "my GPA is of graduate level caliber" or what?
Yes, I made an account to ask this question.
I would assume it means that person did a masters degree and the Grad GPA is their GPA during their masters program.

Third NYU post. But it's listed under "Phliosophy" and not Philosophy so you won't see it searching for philosophy.

Arizona: "Acceptances aren't done. Usually we send out offers to our first choices and then go from there. We're just waiting to hear back from them first."
Do you think a similar thing could be happening for Carnegie Mellon? 3 acceptances posted last week but nothing else.
