  1. Just as a correction: Cornell's Government Department offers the same funding package to all of its admitted students in the PhD program.
  2. Thanks! It was automatic with funding info + a promise of POI contact in the next few days.
  3. One Cornell was me. Was/is legit. I think.
  4. I think it might be different for international and domestic students. Student visas often come with a maximum number of work hours and sometimes TAships max out those hours, while domestic students can take on more paid work.
  5. I'd make the same comment about yaygrad's post above. If this is a case of people being unpleasant to each other, it's probably best not to speculate on the internet even if you're doing it out of innocent curiosity. It could come across as spreading rumours or even further bullying because it might seem like people are dragging up something that people want to leave behind. No hard feelings, it's just probably best if this is left to private conversations with individual students/faculty rather than some semi-anonymised, recycled anecdote!
  6. I'd probably advise against it (partially out of sympathy for the person in charge of admissions who is probably flooded with inquiries from nervous applicants at this time of year). The most I can see you getting out of it is a response that says you should wait until the official result, which may well be tomorrow. It's stressful, I know, but I think you have to just grin and bear it until the official result comes in. Full disclosure, I say that from a position of being admitted somewhere (unreported Madison admission) so I'm less stressed about not hearing back from schools and I'd totally understand your position if you sent off a few inquiries. Good luck!
