A lot of research done at Princeton EE is based on physics. I visited there and talked to a number of professors, and my impression was it is quite similar to Caltech in terms of emphasis on physics and other sciences. I think the major difference is if you want to use physics and apply it to your research, Princeton will fit well. I am not entirely familiar with Caltech Physics although I know Caltech EE. So, I cannot comment on that.

I got the USPS mail. If you live abroad (not in US), you may get that official letter a little bit late. That mail package has more details on funding, etc. And, I am not sure about package for ME.

Princeton, University of Michigan, and CMU pays quite generous stipend.

As far as I know, UMich admission is done by its research fields. Therefore, it depends on which field you applied. You should expect to hear by the mid-March, or possibly late Feb.

The stipend is set by the university, and department (EECS) should follow the instruction. As the residence hall is about $1400/month for studio room, and as the stipend increases 3.5% annually, the stipend is enough to live and sustain life (even though you might not be able to save or pay auto loan, etc). Compared to other schools with similar cost of living, MIT stipend is reasonable. I know Columbia pays about $2800-$3000/month (while New York City is more expensive than Cambridge). The exact number is unknown and not released. However, it is estimated that around 3000 people apply (this year close to 3000 according to acceptance letter) for EECS, and about 150 people are accepted. Among 150, yield rate is about 65-70%, making incoming students size around 100. Although total number of postgraduate students are mid 900, about 300 are the MIT undergraduates who are getting Master of Eng degree. So, about 650 people are the one in PhD program (or SM continuing PhD) with an average completion time of 6 years after Bachelor degree.

I replied to you on the other thread. MIT guarantees full funding for all of its students given they make satisfiable progress on their academics and research. Tuition/Insurance are waived, and for first year students (incoming), TA is not given; either RA/fellowship/departmental support will be given. Fellowships will be announced before March or April.

For BS (without master), $2626/month, and For people with master degree, $2626+$250, and for fellowship recipients, the amount may be the same or increase up to $300 more. Tuition/insurance are covered fully.

Yeah, if you can, that works (since I still need to wait 3-4 days for mail to arrive. I know that it is not requited for first semester, but I prefer to find one before arrival.

I don't think so. I did not get a notification from Stanford either, but originally wanted to go MIT more than Stanford. So, I am good haha

I also did not contact anyone at MIT. Although I sent emails to couples of professors I am interested in working with back on July, I did not get a reply.

To the best of my knowledge (one of admitted students), Columbia EE PhD is completely finalized. I saw one of the staff tagged all the admitted students, and I think around 30 people got admitted this year.

Umich is still going. I know a lot of ECE (not CS) are not announced yet

I don't know deadline for the admitted students portal either. I assume late Feb. Form for Intent to attend is in the admission mail (via USPS), and once you receive it, there should be URL that you can indicate yes/no. one-to-one meeting time depends on how much students showed their interest on specific professor. It is very possible that some professors are not available or booked completely. I roughly estimate around 15-30 mins. I also have not heard about funding, but current students told me most of funding is decided once you find your research advisor. (around 70% RA, 20% TA, and rest of them on fellowships).
