Officially rejected from JUILLIARD!!!

It's been fucking amazing being apart of this community and seeing all the support. Break legs during your interview @Boxedwine I feel good about Iowa and I'll keep sending positive vibes. I also know a lot of ppl @ Hunter and it seems like a great program so if money isn't a HUGE issue I def recommend applying it was on my list this year too. I know someone who might not be taking a spot at UT so there's still hope in that program @greenchile will keep fingers crossed for you as well.

Totally with you @newengland1. This whole process is so scary and exposing and it takes more guts than we like to give ourselves credit for because we live in a fucked up capitalist culture where "winning" means more than striving and doing. No matter the results we all took major emotional and psychic leaps in order to get to this point at all. For years I thought that a grad program wasn't a possibility for me at all and it wasn't until this summer that I got the encouragement to take the leap and allow myself to force myself to come up with the words for what I want to do in the world and how I want to do it and I'm so grateful to this process for giving me the access to those words. Last night my best friend who also applied to programs with me celebrated with friends over barbecue and wine not the fact that we got in to schools, but the fact that we met a year ago and decided this fall to take this frightening plunge together. This is the first of many frightening plunges and this process has given me the ability to take the plunge so much more often and so much more recklessly. WE FUCKING WROTE FULL LENGTH PLAYS, WE WROTE MULTIPLE STATEMENTS OF PURPOSE, WE MADE PEOPLE PONDER THE UNIVERSES WE SEE WHEN WE CLOSE OUR EYES AND DREAM. CONGRATULATIONS GUYS!

Thanks @newengland1 they emailed me for Brooklyn and no interview. It came completely out of the blue. Just had to send the saddest break up email to Mac Wellman. :-/

Also just got the call and I'm in at Yale for the MFA there! Passing out now...may just have died.

Hey guys!! Yale sent out an email that we have to wait two more days...which sucks, but i just found out I'm in at BK. Which is really awesome! I'm going somewhere next year. It's such an anxiety reliever.

I also had a really great time at Yale. Really happy about how my interview went so now it's just time to wait I guess. Crossing fingers for everyone else who was there. The only thing I can say about ways to not check emails @newengland1 is find a new show to watch (I recommend Sense8 or Utopia [UK]) or find some great porn...? Idk. All I know about Brooklyn is that two weeks ago when I saw the new Clare Barron show Mac Wellman was sitting beside me and I accosted him. He told me they were only about halfway through reading. Hope that helps alleviate some stress. Thought I had mentioned it but maybe i didn't.

Damn @Boxedwine we will get in at like 1:30, so I doubt we will see each other. And yeah @The Walter Before the email was weird, I had heard from a Yale friend a while ago and thought they were just going to gracefully mention it at the interview but...idk. Excited that someone who's read and liked our plays works at the Public now though. That's good.

@Boxedwine actually my interview is Friday, thought it was Thurs. Going up tonight with my friend so I can spend the day exploring New Haven a bit before the Welcome Party. THANKS FOR THE ANNE TIP!!! She was added at the end. Sneaky. And I'm with you vis a vis the politics of an all male cohort, although I would hope they would create a density of inclusion in that formulation if that were the route they are exploring but again these are the mumblings of a mad person doing shady mathematical equations.

4 the record, I'm very into the next class being all women once again as well which is why I'm sort of shocked that I know so many boys coming up, marketplace diversity being an important factor in my mind when it comes to the bigger institutions acceptance rates.

Interesting @Boxedwine, just that there will only be one male in the program next year, so they might be doing a male heavy year this year. One of my friends who applied who i think is a very stellar candidate and a female didn't get an invite and that's been odd to me but as I've heard of more ppl I've started to think about the breakdown and realized that it's a woman heavy program once the two senior males leave with Lindsey Ferrentino bc the current 2nd year class is all women.

Hey @Boxedwine and @The Walter Before working on a theory...how do you identify gender-wise? Because both me and the two other people I know interviewing identify and present as "male", which seems of note. Curious about you all.

I'm sorry guys that blows. After finding out about Yale and a Fellowship I was up for I felt like a very special snowflake until I got form letter rejections from GREAT PLAINS, PLAYPENN and PREMIERE STAGES in the span of 48 hours so...keep it up. This is a roulette game, not a true meritocracy.

@The Walter Before and @Boxedwine I got my itinerary earlier today and I have to (somehow) be in New Haven before 9:45 am (I'm dreading this train journey). But I should be done with interview stuff at noon-ish. I'm sure Walter will be at the meet and greet or whatever but you u are going right out boxedwine? Also congrats on the NYU interviews guys I'm sure they went really well!

@Boxedwine@The Walter Before YAY!! Congrats guys. Does anyone know the exact number of interviewees to Yale? One of my best friends also got the invite. Sidenote, if anyone's down I wouldn't mind grabbing a coffee and saying hello IRL. But I also understand if ur like, nah i'm chill.
