I'm pretty sure most people rely on loans or savings since other than the merit scholarship amount, they don't give you any more financial payment.
-
Oh no that awful! Do you know how that happened? Was it a big difference from the mistaken amount?
-
same! it'll be tricky to figure out housing without seeing/knowing the area. does anyone know the average class size?
-
Yay!! We have 3 weeks left to send our acceptances!
-
I believe I will be attending UPitt in the fall! Anyone else??
-
I see a Fall 2016 amount and a Spring 2017 amount, so does that mean our yearly scholarship is the combination of the two?
-
That's awesome! Smartie! Has anyone gotten word of scholarships yet?
-
That's amazing!!! Congratulations!! Do you mind telling what your gap is and what experiences you had? I'm trying to estimate what scholarship amount I can hope to get!
-
Just talked to admissions and they said all scholarships were sent out on Friday
-
Interesting! Thanks for sharing! I did not get that call or know anything about a Monday email... did you apply under special circumstances or anything?
-
Congrats!! How'd you hear?? Email? Mail? Portal?
-
Who else is anxious hearing back about UPitt scholarship? I think I might end up here and would be great to hear from other admits!
-
Are you guys picking schools based on affordability? Location? Ranking? I think cost will be the biggest factor for me in the end
-
Totally agreeing with this- although CWRU is "highly ranked," it does not really matter much for an MSW since we'll all be doing the same thing in the end. Also considering that aside from merit scholarship, there is no financial assistance except for loans, which is a lot to take on considering the cost of tuition and fees

Thanks for the info! I wish other schools were quicker about admission decisions since we have to respond back by March 15!

How are you paying for grad school?

Congratulations on working so hard and saving up on your own! Ivy's are definitely very expensive, but will hopefully help you in your field! -
Mail- I still don't have updates on my portal so it probably won't be there. It definitely doesn't hurt to reach out to the school just to check on the status of your application!

I submitted mine super early... late august actually. They did say if you applied early that you would hear around January 15 (w/ scholarship info), so hopefully you'll be notified soon! I would even email admissions because your application might have already been reviewed but they haven't mailed out the decisions yet!

Are your parents paying for it? Helping out? Do you have money from previous jobs? Or is it just a bunch of loans?
-
strongly considering UPitt and already looking at apartments in the area! i have never been there though. where do most students live? is it easy to make friends?
-
Definitely try to get an MSW if you can. You can't really do much field work or clinical practice without. There are many more job opportunities and ultimately a higher pay. I would look into schools where you can get as much scholarship as possible.

Fall 2015 Admits University of Pittsburgh

For those of you who got merit scholarship before, how much did you receive? And is the amount determined by year? Both years? I'm anxious to hear back. I had a GPA of around 3.65 when I applied, and am hoping to get some scholarship! -
Just wondering what specific careers you guys are interested in! I know I want to do clinical work for sure, yet am playing around with the ideas of being a therapist, working in clinics, schools... lots of options!

BU -- anyone been to an info session?
sugarandspice replied to mollydh's topic in Social Workers Forum
When I went there was no cost, but if you're coming from out of state, I do believe you have to finance it yourself
