  1. I felt like I was a strong candidate, but I didn't have much success on this year's application cycle. What gives? Will I try again? Will I move into my parent's house? Will I be a barista? Get an MBA instead? Adjunct at community college? Now what? I think my strategy was off. I did not network with POIs prior to, I was not an *excellent* fit at all of my departments, and I probably aimed too high. I should have taken the GRE again. It's not over til it's over I guess, but rejection reigns pretty heavy as of late. What's up with everyone else?
  2. NU applicants, brace yourselves.
  3. gingin I think this is key. checking in and weighing the options with the people who care about you and that you personally trust.
  4. Realistic and experienced are key. Tbh I feel the same toward goofy's comments, it's none of my business though and I think it's not our place to be influencing the decisions of each other. We all need to be talking to our current advisers and POIs or DGSs at the places we might go. None of us have the right answer for each other
  5. true that katastrohpe, 1K here, 2K there...the differences will work out. if you work hard and choose the program that is best for your research, funding will fall into place. no matter what, you're gonna be poor. get on food stamps asap and you'll make it.

  7. I'm also waiting on Northwestern. Loyola and Vandy, too........
  8. People who have gotten into several schools, what do you think set your applications apart? So many people are lucky to get into just one school. Why do you think some applications are accepted to many programs?
