  1. Congrats! I will be attending UCR this Fall. You could always email Professor Indridason, he is more than willing to answer any questions!
  2. Living in the DC area here, it can definitely get expensive. If you were to move to the area I would suggest the Silver Spring MD area as prices arent awful for what you get if you split an apartment. There is a complex called Summit Hills that you can get a cheap (relatively speaking) apartment with a bunch of amenities and all utilities covered. Not trying to make a sales pitch just offering some advice if you or anyone is looking to move to the DC metro area
  3. UCLA rejection finally came. Just waiting for a few more so I can start preparing for next cycle
  4. So have UCLA rejections really gone out? Because I havent gotten anything from them and was expecting a rejection by this point
  5. And here I was at 30 and thinking I was probably the oldest here
  6. @HardPromisesHahaha okay my sarcasm detector was clearly down.
  7. So are these people(or person) trolls or just entitled jerks?
  8. I would do this and make sure to apply a little more broadly for next cycle.
  9. You are right. Really hoping for some good news from them! I have not heard anything on Merced though.
  10. My POI said that their decision making process is drawn out from mid-February to late April. So we may have to wait for UCR
  11. USC rejection. Third rejection and no good news yet. -.-'
  12. So I got rejected from UCSD's PhD program. They emailed me encouraging me to apply for the Master's in International Affairs program. They also mentioned that the fellowship that I was found eligible to receive in the PhD program would transfer to the MIA, so it would be paid for with a stipend. However I already have an MA in political science. My question is, if I were to go through with getting another MA through UCSD, would it increase my odds of getting into UCSD for a PhD? Should I consider it?
  13. I need a beer to calm my nerves and it's only 10:30 -.-
  14. While I am not typically a superstitious person, superstition is keeping my sanity through this cycle so I would prefer not to say. I will say that it was one of those you mentioned, who said they would put in a good word for me when I talked to them before finishing my application. idk how much weight that carries at the end of the day, but we will see.
  15. Agreed! I think part of the later admissions decisions could be waitlist stuff? Im not stressing too much yet, it's a less competitive program than others but definitely on the rise!
  16. I had contacted my POI earlier in the week and they said that the first decisions come out as early as February but the decision process can be long and drawn out and that some decisions come out as late as late April O_o
  17. Congrats to whoever got that UCR acceptance! Was it a personal email or just formulaic?
  18. Agreed! This process is stressful enough as it is without people making us feel like hell
  19. Pretty sure it is the same troll that posted a Stanford acceptance earlier. I mean I know gre/gpa play a portion of the decision, but something just seems off with two acceptances and low stats.
  20. So I am curious if it is reasonable to reach out to the department for an update or does that just look bad?
