  1. Oh God that's good to know. Thank you! Picciotto looks really nice and its rent also seems pretty reasonable (especially given the living cost of Geneva) Also, I don't like the idea of commuting to school (I've always lived near campus and the farthest I've got was three-minute walk from campus) AND according to what you said, it's rodent-free! Sounds so perfect. So now I'm really praying to get a room at Picciotto. I wonder how competitive it would be. Fingers crossed xx
  2. Thanks for your advice! Did you guys start applying to student residences right after paying your pre-registration fee? Correct me if I'm wrong, but CIte seems to require UNIGE registration so I'm not sure if I can apply now (I just paid my pre-registration fee and my status didn't change to "confirmed" yet.) By the way, from your display name I'm assuming you're Korean? I'm from Korea as well! Nice to meet you One more question here: When applying to Cite, what do they exactly mean by "proof of help from parents?" Cite requires applicants to present a proof that they will have financial support throughout their residency (unless they are financially independent) and I'm supposed to present a proof that my parents will be paying my rent...Do they mean financial documents (e.g. bank account, tax certificate) that show my parents are financially capable? Any ideas?
  3. It was nice to have everyone here supporting each other during the excruciating wait. Whether accepted or not, each one of us here will all find an option that works out for the best. Wish everyone the best!
  4. Hey guys! I was accepted to MIA today and am so thrilled to join you guys here! (It literally took me hours to process the fact that I'll be in Geneva in a couple of months. Like...WHOA. THIS IS SO UNREAL!) Since I'm already set on choosing IHEID, I thought maybe I should start thinking about my housing. I think I'll apply for the Picciotto student residence first. So...does anyone know which type of room is the least competitive? I think my chances are not too bad, given that I currently live in Seoul and didn't get scholarship from IHEID. Rooms at the Picciotto look great and their price is pretty reasonable, so I would go for any options at the Picciotto. Also...this question might sound stupid (but I'm absolutely serious): do you guys know if the student residence has any rodent/pest issues? Maybe rodent issues are only in some big cities in the U.S., but my $1200/mo room back in college had mice and they made my life totally miserable. The struggle was real. Before putting in my application, I just wanted to make sure it doesn't have any rodent issues.
  5. Accepted to MIA I'm glad the longest wait ever finally paid off ...
  6. Hey guys! I just got admissions from KCL's MA program in Terrorism, Security, and Society. The program is offered by the Department of War Studies, which I figured to be KCL's "flagship" department. Although I have some results coming up soon, I wanted to know how KCL and its War Studies department are received by international organizations. Terrorism is one of my primary research interests and I liked the fact that KCL offers a specialized program for counter-terrorism issues. As masters in the UK are only for a year, I thought the narrower the scope of the course, the better. On the other hand, what puts me off is KCL's international reputation and its alumni network within the IO community. This could be because I'm not from UK and I went to a university in the U.S., but I feel like KCL's reputation is not as great as other London-based schools such as UCL and LSE. Also, as my final career goal is to work for international organizations in the field of counter-terrorism, I wanted to know whether KCL has a solid alumni network within the IO community. If you guys have anything to share about this program or KCL's alumni network, please share with me! Thank you!
