Just trying to get some information that will help me decide where to go visit, but that feels quite awkward to ask the department: do you know of anyone who was waitlisted at Pitt and invited to their visiting days? I'm trying to figure out whether I'm low on the waitlist (though I was told it was unranked), and thus maybe shouldn't take the time to visit, or whether it's just their policy not to invite people on the waitlist to visiting days.

A question for the Stanford admits (trying to figure out how much hope to have)--were you admitted to the Joint Program in Ancient Philosophy specifically or to the philosophy department in general?

This suggestion is probably only marginally helpful but--if you book a round trip ticket for a large enough window to fit all your visits in, you can then book much less expensive domestic flights between schools in that window. You might even be able to keep staying with grad students or something between visits? idk. For the domestic flights, airlines like Southwest have no change fees, so if you need to rearrange things after you get more news, you can. Also there are websites with student discounts on tickets, like studentuniverse.com. Congrats on your good (though understandably frustrating in another sense) problem to be having!!

Hi! This is my first time posting (I've been lurking for ages--you are all great!), but I can claim the Harvard waitlist! I got an email to check the website just a few moments ago, and a link to a (bizarrely poorly typeset) letter about the waitlist was available. Maybe that means they're sending out offers over the course of today?
