I emailed a few professors that I would like to work with, but only one responded when I sent out a follow up. Should I follow up for a second time, seeing that this week is their break?

Anybody in San Diego want to meet up and talk about this whole process together? I have friends that have gone through it, but it seems nothing like going through it right now

All of my answers were 3 or 6 AM PST. 3 rejections, 1 MS acceptance.

On my end, one application status says the program completed their review and will send the decision via email. That was a couple days ago and I was hoping to hear by today. The day isn't over yet and I'm really hoping they can carve out time in their day to click that "send" button because I don't want to go through a painfully slow weekend waiting for Monday to get here. Another school said they'd finish reviewing my application this week and send a decision after that, which I am thinking I won't see until at least the 14th since they are on spring break next week. Not that it will stop me from checking portal every few minutes. I'm not expecting a decision from another until later this month, and the fourth has been radio silent. I will say this is probably the first time in my life that I hate the weekends.
Good luck!

I reached out to one of the schools, and it turns out I'm in a good spot but need a faculty member to pick me up. Sent out naggy (not really since the last time we corresponded was December) emails to POIs and am hoping for the best.

I work at a biotech company, and the management constantly pushes us entry level people to go get graduate degrees. My boss hired me knowing I wanted to leave later this year. All great people.

I'm just thinking, what's the next step if I get no admissions? I feel that in science, I need to get a PhD in order to achieve any career advancement. I was thinking MS in Chemistry in the next round of applications, and take a few concurrent enrollment Chem classes while I work. Any advice?

Rejected from third of 6 just now, no interviews from the rest. Maybe the others will come through?

Anyone have some good cocktail pairings for rejection letters? I'm thinking it might be time to get ready.
Bromosas: Half Coors Lite and half Orange Juice. Easy on the taste, gives you the electrolytes to stave off that headache from all the other cocktails we're gonna be downing.

I have had no interviews either, I'm taking that as a bad sign...

@Neist Thanks for the encouragement. My current boss has ties to the program, and we have a 1 on 1 today. Going to tell him the news and see what's up.

Beginning to think I shouldn't have wasted money applying. Out of 6 schools, the 2 least competitive came back with a rejection. One was the school I did my undergrad at. I know I'll be drinking the rest of my Glenlivet tonight.

Final 2 schools to hear back from. If no from them, I go after my MS first!
