  1. I would DEFINITELY talk to the faculty at the program you will be attending. I believe that most of the required quantitative courses would be in statistics (and won't need calculus), but there are exceptions. The need for calculus as such probably depends on your research topic and the type of analysis you want to use. In other words, you probably don't need calculus, so it's worth checking with the department before you potentially waste your time. Also,if calculus isn't needed, they might be able to recommend a different course which would be more useful.
  2. I assume people know by now, but if not, BC issued invites for accepted & wait-listed to visit campus in a couple of weeks - so they've probably made their decisions.
  3. I applied to Cornell, but to the Sociology dept rather than ILR (the Sociology dept is heavy on Econ Soc). Don't think I got in, 'cause there were a flurry of acceptances 2 weeks ago. The rest were MIT/Sloan Econ Soc(which is my favorite AND I've been accepted!!), Harvard Org Behavior, U Mich dual Ross Mgmt & Org & GSAS Soc, and Northwestern joint Kellogg Mgmt,Org ...

  4. I notice that you are listing Org behavior. I'm doing Econ Soc, which is usually in the org studies dept. Where are you applying (if you don't mind my asking)? We might have some overlaps!

  5. I'm 51!!!!! Thanks. Good luck to you as well.

  6. You're never too old! I'm almost 50 :)

Good luck on all your apps (and hope the replies come soon).

  7. I visited most of the schools I applied to before I applied, and I learned a lot from the visit that wasn't visible in other ways. School/dept cultures can be radically different, and I believe it's important to have a good fit to reach one's full potential. For me there were clearly some schools where I felt like I would advance further as a scholar than others. If you're on a very tight budget, I would visit school A and see if the fit is good and you'll be happy there. If you leave feeling great about the program, then you could skip B, but if you leave with any doubts or hesitations, schedule a visit to B right away. Hope this helps, and good luck!!
  8. So TM is migrating here? I'm still waiting to hear from HBS OB - does anyone else have any news? Also, I was interviewed by U Mich Mgmt & Org, but haven't had any follow-up. Is there anyone else who was short-listed by them who has heard one way or another? You know, I was thinking, once we've all heard and decided, maybe we should introduce ourselves since we're likely to be colleagues in the future.
