  1. At the risk of stoking more Hunter hating, has anyone who was accepted there received their official letter? I'm anxious to take the next steps in the process but haven't received the letter in the mail. Also, I know Hunter doesn't offer much on their part in terms of funding and that it goes through FAFSA to determine aid, but as a general rule, do grad students qualify for PELL grants and NY State TAP?
  2. Accepted to Hunter! If anyone is waiting to hear from them, I got an email a couple hours ago telling me to check my status online, so check your inbox! Anyone hear from Hunter who's thinking of accepting?
  3. Huh, I'm surprised to hear that. Was not really how I experienced it. I did think there would be faculty from the discipline I was applying in though (pretty sure I was told explicitly there would be one from my discipline and one from another). Anyway, I feel like the program is a really good one and I would get what I am looking for from it. Hope you find the right fit.
  4. I never got to the interview stage at Bard. I was so anxious about the interview at Hunter that I think anything would have seemed simple and casual after having worked myself up about every possible question and interpretation of my work. It was a pretty straight forward discussion, very conversational, nothing that seemed like a trick question or anything. They asked about my work (themes, technical process, how they relate to each other, etc) and where I see myself going in the near future, why I want to go to Hunter, where else I applied, and who inspires me. I was quick to place my work in the context of other areas of my life (literature and activism mainly) so I think I may have cut off some of the other questions they might have asked. They were happy to answer my questions, seemed to be selling me a bit on the program (not needed, as it's always been my top choice). So hard to tell how it will all go down. I know there were a lot of qualified applications for a few spots. Did you interview there?
  5. Finally learned that I was waitlisted at Rutgers. For those still waiting to hear, maybe check your status on their website. Anyone know what steps you should take after being waitlisted? There was no prompt to let them know if I'm still interested or not. Do we just... wait at this point? Bard was a no a few weeks ago. Now I'm just waiting for Hunter after interviewing last Saturday.
  6. Received confirmation this week that everyone is to bring 10 printouts no larger than 8.5 x 11 and not original work. If you use video you can bring a digital device to show it on. But at this point anyone who is interviewing knows that. lol.
  7. I'm only not assuming rejection because I haven't seen anything about people receiving word of any kind from Rutgers. Their application deadline was also slightly later, so maybe that has something to do with it? Hoping they're just really slow. The other schools I applied to were Bard and Hunter. Bard was a no and I am interviewing with Hunter March 12.
  8. Thanks everyone. Yesterday I emailed someone who advises prospective MFA student for the program and asked. Waiting to hear back. I'm also trying (unsuccessfully so far) to find them in person to speak. Will update when I find out. I understand it would be to my benefit to have it regardless, but the prospect of trying to throw this together in a couple weeks is giving me hives. lol
  9. I realize this may be the dumbest question ever, but is it expected that we have a hard copy of our portfolio when we go in to interview? I've gotten mixed messages on this from the people I've asked. Interviewing at Hunter on March 12.
  10. Received an invitation to interview at Hunter March 12, but wondering if I'm expected to bring in actual work (or some sort of hard copy of a portfolio) for the interview? That might be dumb question, but I'm just not sure. Reactions so far have ranged form "of course, dummy" to "no, that's very rare that they would expect that." Help! Also received a rejection from Bard a week or so ago and still waiting to hear from Rutgers.
