NatureCulture got a reaction from CoffeeTime in Fulbright 2017-2018
Wow! Many thanks to the Netherlands applicants who responded, and apologies for any confusion. Wishing you all the best of luck!

Since I was the one who posted that I should definitely note that I applied for ETA so don't lose hope yet!! I think they just interviewed us this time around because this is the first year they are accepting ETAs, but I understand the research program has been in the Netherlands for a while so maybe they don't feel the need to interview. Sorry to have caused any unnecessary grieving, but ETAs and research grants are definitely not approached the same way and I'm sure you're both awesome candidates so you wouldn't need an interview!!

I am a Research/Study semi-finalist for the Netherlands and I was not interviewed. In response to the recent post regarding an interview in the Netherlands, I have been engaged in the emotional process of giving up on Fulbright prospects and reminding myself of everything I have to be thankful for in life. I actually closed that spread sheet and the grad cafe for an hour in my grieving (which is probably good because I need to get to work)! Is it possible that Research/Study candidates were not interviewed?

A friend of mine was not interviewed and she's a research semi-finalist there, if that's any help!

NatureCulture reacted to Cornell07 in How to politely decline an offer?!
"I regret that I cannot attend _____ University and have instead chosen to attend ____ University. I wish I could take [x] from your school and merge it with [y] from _____ University, but reality denies me this ideal world. Ultimately, [z] has proven to be the deciding factor that has pushed my hand in this challenging decision. Thank you again for all of your assistance and guidance through this process.

While I cannot accept your offer, I suggest you speak to Cornell07. I can attest without reservation that he is a worthy, distinguished, and highly qualified candidate, who would be a perfect match with you and your department. In light of his impressive tangbile and intangible qualifications as a scholar and assured future as a luminary in his field, I am honored that you ultimately extended your offer to me. Even though you may have originally passed over his application, I am sure that he would gladly look past this unfortunate oversight.

    Kindest Regards,
    redwine"
