Hey guys! I realize money is kind of a sensitive issue but how much are you guys approximately gonna owe after grad school? People are telling me the average is about 40k and I will be owing waaaaaay more than that! Starting to get really nervous that j made the wrong decision
also so how do payment plans work? Like how does one determine what the most minimum payment they could make a month is? Thanks in advance!!!

If you guys don't mind me asking, how much are you guys gonna borrow? I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how much is too much

How was the open house for those who went?!?
-
For those who went to the open house- what did you guys think?! I didn't have the chance to go so any input would be awesome

Hi! For those of you guys that have already attended accepted student days or are going soon - any input on what we should wear?? I'm always so clueless on these things lol. Thanks!!!

I thought most programs pay by the credit? By looking at my financial package it looked like it'd be like 75k a year

Hi @slp2be1345 just curious what fantastic things you've heard about the program? I am considering this school but actually have heard not the best things and would love to hear positive things people have to share!
What are the negative things that you've heard? I haven't really heard much about nyu either

they are also relatively easy to get in compared to other programs. like 40% acceptance rates!

Where would you guys look at for housing? Anyone know of common neighborhoods that students going to MGH usually live?
I feel like alot of people live around somerville or brighton?? and it's also on the cheaper side compared to some other places? Not really sure though. I won't be having a car so kinda nervous about that
also for anyones that said they're going to the open house - we just email them right? didn't get a response so just wanted to make sure!

It's crazy how every year, grad school entrance is so insanely competitive and schools know that, and yet, the next year, they're overwhelmed/unprepared by how many applications they receive. This year doesn't seem to be the exception, it seems to be the trend. I think we should all commit, once we're all SLPs, to working to solve this problem we have of such a tiny bottleneck, for such an important field. The need exists, the jobs exist, the grad school spots do not. If we don't change things, who will, right? (Or is this just my lack of sleep talking?)
Agreed! Although I think the main problem is that most people pursue speech pathology to be a pathhologist, not to teach graduate school, which is why they only allow a certain amount of people. So I'm not really sure how we would solve that. At least that's what my professor said lol

Someone said anyone who got an interview but didn't get accepted was wait listed I wonder if thats true

Oh damn didn't realize MGH was #7

plus, all it takes is one for them to be able to list it as their lowest range so who knows

Are most of all of you guys interested in working w adults/the medical setting? I haven't Really gotten the hospital experience yet, but I've always really leaned towards working w kids. I'm worried mgh wouldn't be a good fit for me even though it's such a great program :/
i guess what I'm really asking is how much does mgh emphasize adults/the medical setting over everything else?

Does anyone know when we'll hear back from Emerson? Or if northeastern finished their last wave of acceptances yet? Thanks!

Also does anyone have any advice on what we should do in preparation right before grad school like in the summer? I took a few years off, so I honestly have forgotten basically everything! I don't wanna be behind, esp since some people will have just finished pre reqs and the info will be fresh in their minds. But I also don't wanna waste my time and study for things that probably won't have a big impact for grad school. For ex should I go in knowing the phonetic alphabet?
