  1. Hey, I'm currently a grantee in Poland, and while not an ETA, I'm pretty informed as to their application process/experiences in Poland this year. PM me if there's anything you'd like to know. Dan
  2. My award document has a fourth column entitled "travel and relocation allowance". This is what I receive for travel. Whether or not I choose to spend more or less than this amount is my decision. It will not be reduced, nor will I receive any extra funds. This is how it works for Poland, but may not be how it works for your country. My use of the word "reimbursed" may have been ambiguous. I was simply stating the obvious: that the plane ticket must be bought prior to you receiving any funds from Fulbright. I wonder whether your travel funds may be included within the "base amount" section of your award document? Would this be possible?
  3. Usually, the answer is yes-it comes out of the total grant award. But, usually there is a travel stipend included in that total grant amount. For instance, i am headed to Poland in August, and they are giving me a monthly stipend, a separate research stipend, and a separate travel stipend for both myself and my wife. Generally speaking the plane ticket must be bought well in advance of the beginning of the grant period, and is reimbursed after your fellowship/ETA placement begins. Hope this helps.
  4. Congratulations on your wife's award! I seriously wonder what is going on with Poland and the whole alternate status thing. Your wife is the third person not including myself who I know was moved off of the alternate list to principal status (and of course there could be more). Seems like a lot of people! Anyways, my wife and I will be stationed in Poznan where I will be researching the law of public protest in Poland (and hopefully doing some traveling around Poland). See you at orientation!
  5. I was a Poland alternate for about three weeks before being moved to principal status five days ago.
  6. Just recieved a Fulbright!

  7. Ms. Lionheart, I applied for a research grant to Poland where I plan to complete legal research regarding the laws of public protest both now and prior to 1989. We'll be pretty close neighbors if the news on selection day is positive! Where are you planning to affiliate in the Czech Republic (I used to live there)?
  8. Are there any other Fulbright research finalists out there for Poland?
