  1. Oh gosh, between all the grad school/fellowship/marriage/visa stuff going on right now I completely forgot to update you guys! Yes, we heard from the Pickering team a while back, and I'm absolutely thrilled to say that I got the fellowship and will be attending Georgetown this fall! This is exactly the outcome I always hoped for but didn't think would ever happen, so I'm still in shock. To all the other Pickering finalists, it was incredible to meet you at selection. You all are amazing people, and I came back truly humbled by what you have accomplished already and will accomplish in the future. To my fellow ... Fellows, I can't wait to see you at orientation next month! I just booked my ticket to the States and am super excited to get to know you all! To any aspiring Pickering Fellows in the future, feel free to private message me with any questions. All the people I talked to while preparing for the interview were incredibly helpful, and I'm a big believer in paying it forward. And to @ZebraFinch, @kbui, @mrs12, and the other regular posters in particular, thanks for all your constant encouragement, advice, and cheering on. I (and I'm sure all the other people on this board) really appreciate all of it so much.
  2. @kbui You're right. That was a careless comment, and I shouldn't have made it. Thanks for calling me out on it.
  3. April 26 and 27. I'm on the 26th. Kind of annoying since I've had to request enrollment notification extensions from all the programs I'm accepted into, but totally worth it if it works out.
  4. @ZebraFinch, thanks so much for your hosting! Your tips and insight into the selection and clearance processes were amazing. To everyone else on the call, it was wonderful to see you on the webcam. Looking forward to seeing you all in person soon! Best of luck to everybody!
  5. Oh, good! I'll hop right in.
  6. Shoot, that's a bummer. I don't think I'll be able to make it at 2 p.m. CST since that's 4 in the morning for me and I need to be functional at work tomorrow. Any chance of getting to a different computer, @kbui? I'd really love to hear about your experience getting the Payne as well as @ZebraFinch's getting the Pickering.
  7. I'm interested too! 11am CST works great for me.
  8. @ZebraFinch Thanks for the tip! I hope it works out for us both to be there since I'd love to meet you. Being a finalist twice must make you some kind of Pickering Super Fellow!
  9. Hey everyone, I’ve been avoiding this thread for the sake of my sanity since I didn’t think I could handle the rejection if I got too invested, but now I just found out that I’m a graduate finalist for the Pickering! Mind. Blown. Echoing @AAAAAAAA, I’d really appreciate any advice about going through the selection process from anyone who’s been down that road or through the Rangel/Payne wringer. I’ll take all the help I can get! O.O Also, I’ve got to make a choice in the next day or two about whether to go to DC for the interview, etc. I live in South Korea, so I have the option to do it via Skype, but I’m a bit worried that that would hurt my chances. @ZebraFinch, do you know if anyone from your Pickering cohort got it after interviewing remotely? I’d really like to go in person, but it would mean spending a bunch of money on getting myself to the States and taking almost a week off of work, not to mention going through it completely jetlagged. Any thoughts on whether I should go or not? And @mrs12, I’m sad to hear you didn’t get it, but I’m impressed with your positivity and perseverance! I think you’ve got a great shot next time.
