I have admits from both Columbia and UC San Diego for MS Computer Science, starting Fall 2016. My interest areas are Machine Learning and Language Understanding. I am aware and am also considering the costs difference of both programs. I am not sure of how well does the overall reputation of Columbia and UCSD's computer science departments compare - in terms of selective-ness and research quality in my interest areas. What is your opinion on these ? What would you say I should additionally keep in mind while making my choice ?
