Hello guys, I am writing to ask you all regarding graduate admissions. I recently got a BS in Statistics, and I will be pursuing a MS in Statistics starting this Fall. However, I am planning to reapply for MS in Statistics programs and transfer out to another institution (at least top 20) and pursue the same degree in the same field, MS in Statistics. The reason why I would like to transfer is because honestly, I am not very satisfied with the ranking of the institution (much lower than my undergrad school), and I think the reason why I received offers from lower ranked MS programs even though I applied to many programs is mainly because my GPA is low (~3.3/4.0). I will take three courses this fall which are all, of course, graduate levels; Advanced mathematical statistics (3 units), Linear regression models (3 units), and Statistical methods (3 units). But since I will do only one semester before I transfer to another institution, I will just solely focus on studying rather than joining research labs. If I get good grades (straight A's) in all of three graduate level courses as a graduate student, will I be able to make up for my bad GPA from undergrad and have a better chance to be admitted to the top 20 programs than other students who haven’t taken graduate level courses? If yes, roughly how significantly would it increase the chance? Or would every applicant be assessed based on grades in undergraduate level courses only? Thank you for your reply in advance!

I'm interested in pursuing a master's degree in Statistics at Texas A&M University, NCSU, or Penn State University. They offer both online program and and offline program and I'm more interested in the online program for some reason. My questions is this; Are online masters programs relatively easier to get into?

I'm currently attending UCSD working toward my Bachelors degree in Probability&Statistics and I'm planning on applying to UCLA graduate school next year. By the way, I was told from one of my friends that it is easier to get into top UC graduate schools who received their BS/BA degrees at UC undergraduate school. This is kind of a silly question, but is this true?
