Just found out I got into BC's MTS. I'm super excited and leaning heavily towards accepting, but am seriously considering asking for a bit more funding. I'm not sure how well that would go over, though.

Decisions went online about fifteen minutes ago. Some people have already posted on the results page.

Find out if you can apply for advanced standing next year, with some of the program you are accepted to completed. That is, see what your options are for transferring. Not to be too cynical, but encouragement towards applying again is nowhere close to an offer of admission. Bird in the hand and all that.

Does anyone know if Boston College STM posts results online at all? I'm fairly sure that they'll reject me, but it is taking an awfully long time to hear back.

That does make sense, especially given how tough the PhD environment is right now. I suspect every PhD applicant they offered spot to would have taken it. At any rate, thank you for the info.

It's my understanding that PhD spots are usually far fewer and more fully funded. Logistically, it makes sense to fill those first and then round out the department with the funding and resources allotted for the MA Program, which in some places may only be partially funded or not at all. The delay varies from dept to dept. So, about the 1 Master's applicant thing: For serious? That would explain a lot, but also sounds shady. Anyway, the letter I received from the dept reflects the same reasons: many applicants and, especially, a lack of funding.

I talked to the department secretary on the phone. It is possible that I may have misheard. I'm applying for an MA and I don't know my result yet. Do you know if they post the results to OneStart? I asked, and I wasn't sure if she said "no" or "not yet."

They sent out decisions today. I don't know if they put them online, or if they would be up yet. Not sure if this includes email/phone calls.

Thoughts on how UTS (NY) is doing in terms of academic rigor, status, facilities, finances, general stability, etc? I'm applying to the MA program, concentration in Ethics, and I've been having a hard time assessing how the school is doing in these areas.
