Hi all, I was wondering what is the appropriate protocol for requesting a change in externship placement. I recently met with my supervisor and she suggested a placement that is not in a good area. The externship itself is what I am looking for (acute care) however, I am very worried about the commute to this particular area. I cannot take public transit as it is too dangerous and not recommended, but I still do not feel safe driving to the hospital. I still have time before placements are locked in place but I was wondering if it would be inappropriate to ask for a change in placement. I do not want to come off as ungrateful or unwilling to participate in a clinical experience, I am just incredibly worried for my safety. Any thoughts or suggestions would be wonderful! Thank you!
