Officially committed to Vanderbilt IGP. Excited to see they moved one up to #14 this year. Opened up waitlist spots for Sinai CAB and Emory CB. Hope they pulled someone off the waitlist who really wants to go!

Not yet. I still have Vanderbilt coming up so I will decide after. Leaning towards Mount Sinai at the moment.

Yes! I got a call from Anna Kenney yesterday. She said official decisions won't be coming out before next week but she just wanted to let me know early or something.

I got an acceptance email from Mount Sinai yesterday. Personal email from Cancer MTA co-director this morning. Also got a call from Emory yesterday. It's been a good week so far. Good luck to everyone who's still waiting!

Don't worry too much about the PIs research you're interviewing with. Know your stuff! they will ask you to go on and on about your research without asking detailed questions and it will look bad if you don't have a like a prepared speech that is at least 3-5 minutes long. Be comfortable, be yourself and don't be afraid to ask questions. You're not the only one being interviewed. You are also interviewing the PI and the school and making sure it's the right fit for you. So don't be afraid to ask like oh is this project available or are you recruiting graduate students right now or how often do you have lab meetings etc. It looks good to be interested in the details of how the lab functions and they want to make sure that it's a right fit for you.

Not true. 90 interviewees for 40 spots but they will accept ~60-70 to ensure 40 people come. I'm like 100% sure I got in but I guess we'll see.

But I'll be traveling 3 days prior to the interview so I won't be able to prep. I feel like schools should be more responsible and let you know who you are interviewing with weeks before.

Business formal is a pant suit. I'd expect that from medical school and MSTP interviews. I'm planning on wearing a button down shirt (white or light blue), a grey pencil skirt and either a matching blazer or a black blazer matching black heels. Dressing professionally is such a hassle but honestly it makes me feel so much more self confident. Even if you are a very sporty person and don't usually dress professionally, it shows respect for the people you're interviewing with that you went an extra mile and outside of your comfort zone to dress well and blend in.

I thought they did Skype interviews for international students who don't live in the US. Anyway, congratulations! That's an amazing opportunity. Yale only interviews very few international students and the fact that you made the cut shows that they are interested in having you. I'd totally invest money in visiting and checking out the program. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity. I applied to Yale MMPP. Does anyone know if they're still sending out invites? I'm losing hope

I'm international. I've gotten interviews at Emory and Mount Sinai so far. Probably rejected from UW and UPenn. Still waiting to hear back from Cornell Weill, Yale and Vanderbilt. Being international definitely puts you at a disadvantage. Interview and acceptance rates are way less for international applicants because of funding issues. You need to have a better application than what they expect from domestic students to stand out. There's still time to hear back. Wish you best of luck!

Also since they interview and accept such a large cohort of people and have tons of funding it's not like oh sorry you're a great candidate but this year we are looking for people with different research interests because only that PI is recruiting. Like I was surprised I got an invite from Emory because they accept 5-10 people and I fit less there with my research interests. UPenn accepts more than 100. If you don't get an interview they probably didn't like something in your application and I honestly can't think what that could be. I have 4 amazing letters from the director of my external research funding agency, chair of the biology department who taught my journal club type seminar, professor that taught my cell biology and saw me give an oral presentation at the conference and my PI who is a chair of the department and a huge name in cancer research. And it could totally be regional bias because I go to UChicago it's more 'expected' that I stay in the midwest. I've heard that from many people in admissions.

Because 2 admissions chairs from 2 years told me I was very competitive. Because I have 3 years of research experience and 2 first author papers and my GPA and GRE are well above averages and my research experience fits perfectly with faculty at UPenn. I crafted my personal statement for days and made it very specific about why UPenn is my absolute number one school.

UPenn CAMB Cancer Bio breaks my heart I really wanted and expected that interview. Don't really care about UW that much. Still hoping to hear back from Weill Cornell, Vanderbilt and Yale.
