See about having your direct supervisor co-write the letter with the professor. That way, you get the details from the supervisor and the signature that counts from the professor. (I am assuming here that the professor is both your and the supervisor's boss, although that wasn't entirely clear from your post.)

I am sorry I didn't give all details. They are completely different entities. They do not know each other too.

Instead, you will have to write about your position in your statement of purpose and in your CV. Does your research assistant position allow you to publish or present your work in any way (conferences etc.)? These things on your CV can demonstrate that you are doing good research work. But, I know that many companies will not allow their employees to publish research.

They do not allow me to publish. But thanks for the reply, I'll ask my professor for another one then.

  3. I have a GPA of 3.9. But I really want to get into Ivy League or some top Engineering colleges. I understand it's a really tough task. So I want to amplify my chances of getting in. I realised that my profile will not see any significant improvements in the time between applying early or regular. If that is the case, is it advisable to apply early? I heard that only those students who have strong profiles and are confident will apply increasing the early pool's competition. So what should I do?
