  1. Sorry to piggy back on this thread, but you guys have given me a bit of hope. I was rejected from all of the programs I applied to and am currently seeking a tech job to bolster my chances later. I'm slightly worried that I do not have the skill set to even get a position. Most of my experience is in cloning and my lab won't let non-PhD's do tissue culture due to problems in the past. I know the basics, but no practice. Will this be an issue?
  2. Is anyone else going to the Boston University PiBS interview this weekend? I just drive six hours to make it here since the flights got canceled. A little wired and tired and just hoping it goes well.
  3. I have to agree with everyone here, it's actually really easy. I did it myself when I went for my masters, going from Chemistry to Biomedical with no real background besides a molecular biology course. Especially after undergrad, a lot of the basic biology is gone over again and there are plenty of people that are learning the material for the first time. For me, the background in chemistry actually helped when it came to understanding a lot of the experiments in the lab I'm in, so maybe it might help you too. Good luck!
  4. Just got mine as well. I actually thought that they sent everything already. Nice to have some closure though.
  5. UCSF DSCB rejection came in. And here I thought the week would be quiet.
  6. No, not necessarily. It's actually still pretty early for invites, but it also depends on the program. Some do rolling invites, some haven't even begun to send out invites yet. So, while it is hard to do, I wouldn't worry too much. After the new year is when they really start to send them out.
  7. Thanks. I'll check the application portal for those that have one. I still can't log on to some because the portal link was missing in the conformation email. Thanks for the information! I checked the homepage for a few and they don't have any info yet, which is...good? Except for UC Denver-Anschutz which is freaking me out since they just tell me I don't have any pending application despite all the emails from them, so that's not worrisome at all! Oh, post-holiday rejection sounds like it might be a bonding experience for some of us. Good luck!
  8. Quick question. For those that got rejections from UCSF or other schools, was it through email or did you call and talk to someone? Just trying to see if there are schools I should give up on or not.
  9. Got a rejection email from UW-Madison CMB. Oddly I feel better that I got an email with some news even if it was a rejection. It was a reach school anyway.
  10. It is an internet forum. I think, by the laws of the internet, this kind of stuff must happen. At least it keeps away the intense fear of no replies from schools I really wanted.
  11. It is, but that's just the deadline. It might be a rolling admissions type of thing. Plus, I go there for my masters, so they may have pushed it through early.
  12. Also, not sure if anyone is applying to the Rutgers GSBS, but they say official invites will be sent out the first week of January.
  13. Just got an invite from Rutgers GSBS for their I^3 program. I would be excited if I had applied to that program and not the CBNP program.
  14. Wouldn't that be nice? My blood pressure sky rockets every time my email alert goes off.
  15. Congrats! I was just wondering when they were going to start the interview invites.
