  1. I think you have a good chance of getting in based on your years of public service. And I think if you have 2 years of related experience, it can fulfill the internship requirement and you don't have to do internship. I also heard from the staff that they are starting an online program in 2011 (not confirmed). For the scholarship, it is merit-based but make sure you submit your application before deadline (which I missed). USC's tuition is based on a per unit rate of $1,360. So the whole program costs around $54400 (40 units). Make sure you have a decent SoP and good recommendations. Hope it helps!=)
  2. 1. Please note you can also get a MPA with public policy certificate. From the FAQ of SPPD website, "The MPA program offers a solid professional education designed to prepare students for all the challenges and opportunities of a career in public management. The MPP program helps build the skills and knowledge base required of a professional policy analyst. While the MPA tends to focus more on management-based courses and the MPP has a heavier emphasis on analytical coursework, both degrees through the available electives provide students the opportunity to take further coursework in management or analysis. In addition, most MPA courses are scheduled in the evening or in an intensive format, making it easier for working professionals to pursue the degree." 2.The average GPA was a 3.41 and the average GRE was 1221 for 2009. Hope it helps.
  3. I've got an e-mail from Wagner today. It seems that I am on the wait list: "Thank you for your application to NYU Wagner. Please note that your application was reviewed and due to an increasingly competitive pool of candidates, your application is undergoing an extended review process. You have been placed on the waiting list and we aim to provide you with a final decision by April 30th, 2010. We understand that you are eager to be notified and we are doing everything we can to ensure a timely response. You do not have to take any action or submit additional information at this point. Thank you for your patience." BUT I just found out I got into USC SPPD today! So I don't think I'm going to NYU...
  4. Wow...thanks for all your enthusiastic replies and encouragement! I graduated from UCLA with a 3.9 GPA, and my GRE score is 1280. I don't think I am eligible for most scholarship (I'm an international student). I have finished filling in the details of the application, but I am still waiting to hear back from the recruiter to make sure they're still reviewing application for Fall 2010. By the way, what are your concentration? Thanks again!
  5. Congrats to all those who get in! Can you share your GRE scores? I only did above average or average in GRE, and I always think my scores are not good enough even though my GPA is way above the average. I actually considered applying to their MPA/MPP program before, but by then I decide to apply, I missed their Dec 15 deadline. On their website, it says the final deadline is July 1. Does anyone know the chances of getting in if someone applies for the MPP/MPA program after they offer admissions to applicants? One more question. In terms of career choices and years of work experiences of students, what are the differences b/t their MPP and MPA program? Thanks in advance!
  6. Hi all! I am new to this forum--and yes, I received an acceptance packet yesterday. I am considering whether I should go for it or not. I graduated in June 2009, and am working at a average-paid job. I am concerned because I don't have a lot of work experience (in terms of years) and I had such a hard time getting a job last year (especially because I am an international student). I called the Assistant Director earlier and asked her whether I could defer, but she said I won't be guranteed a place in Fall 2011 (even though it's very likely that they will admit me again) if I decide to defer. My job is pretty stable, but there aren't much room for promotion/pay raise. So what do you all think? Can someone briefly summarize others' reviews (good or bad) of the UCLA MPP program? Thanks a lot!=)
