  1. I have a somehow similar situation with you. I got an offer from a great program, but I once hesitated about whether to choose a job opportunity (perfectly match my current interest) over this graduate school position. I finally chose to go to graduate school because: 1) The mentor at that program is very open to collaborations. As such I have chance to learn the skills that I need in professional career and work with more than one faculty. 2) I decide to be open to possiblities-- I am a senior and who knows what might change/refine my research interests in the near future. If I choose the job over this graduate school offer, then I am also missing the opportunity of attending a good program and working with a great faculty. 3) I want to get my phd earlier. Getting phd at 26 is a temptation to me. Not that it is important for everyone (more specifically, you), but in my case it is. Again, these are all my personal considerations, and thus might not apply to your situations. Best luck. You will figure things out.
  2. To the Pittsburgh clinical acceptance posters do you mind PM'ing me your POI's initial, or whether it is only clinical or clinical-health joint program? This is my dream school and I would be more than grateful if you could let me know! Many thanks!
  3. Has anyone received OFFICIAL admission letter from U Pitts or Boston University? Would really appreciate if you could PM me or reply here! Thx in advance!!
  4. Could the person accepted by clinical psychology program at Pittsburgh PM me your POI? I am more than grateful. And BIG CONGRATS to you!
  5. Finished all my interviews yesterday. Now I am playing the nerve-wracking waiting game... Do anyone hear from Boston University/ University of Pittsburgh after interviews? The result page does not update recently.. Thank you very much!
  6. He replied within one day. He appeared to check emails very frequently because I always got a reply within one day. Hope this helps
  7. I have a somewhat similar encounter. One of my PIs sent the wrong letter (for another student) for me (1 school). I found out because the ad commitee contacted me after the deadline. But I am glad that they gave me and my PI a chance to correct the letter. I am glad that things go right for you! Best luck!
  8. I emailed POI two months ago (POI: DC). He told me that he had a lot of applicants this year but he was only able to invite 1-2 people for interviews. I was not on his short list. Hope this helps.
  9. Hi all, I hope offers are starting coming in. I have a question though: generally how long will I hear back from school about decisions after the interview?
  10. You are not alone. I am stuck at the airport for half an day and my flight would take 13 hours to arrive at Boston. I am crossing my fingers hard hoping that I could arrive on time.
  11. Hi Stereopticons: Thx for your sharing!! I am wondering to what extent should the research idea be solid and concrete. Say, when going to interviews, will POI ask for a very concrete plan (paradigms, methods, variables and how to index variables, candidate hypothesis, etc)? And I sincerely wish things work out for you!! Best wishes!!!
  12. Hello! I have a question... When there's a graduate student hosting me, am I supposed to bring pillow and quit/blanket on my own……?
  13. Emailing does not take a long time, so I would suggest emailing. However, it is very likely that programs tend to extend interviews at least 1-2 weeks prior interviews.
  14. I assume that people might be too busy to check out information of other applicants? But still, sending mass email without keeping each applicant's information private might make people a bit uncomfortable.
  15. I will PM you if I hear something back! Thank you, & best wishes
  16. Although it might be a long shot that I would get an offer from Temple (I haven't heared from it since the interview. Sigh~ I am not a very good match as well), I am curious is there anyone on the same boat as me? Don't know about my alternate status yet.
  17. Perhaps you could write your POI directly. My POI told me that I was on the waitlist and DCT would let me know about the details soon. According to my knowledge that offers have been extended on Tuesday. Sorry I am a bit down as well. Good luck with other interviews.
  18. I definitely sympathized with you. A POI, one of my top choice, approached me to dicuss about interview details. Right after I booked my tickets to that city, he wrote me that he could not take a student this year and withdrawn the interview invitation. It turned out that he did not realize he was short of funding at that time. I was not very happy about it, but it was what it was. Despite that he encouraged me to apply there next year if I am not in a doctoral program at that time, I probably would not apply again. I hope you are feeling well and will enter your dream school this year.
  19. To people who received an invitation from UCLA and Boston, congradulations!!! If you feel comfortable to PM me the initials of your POI, then would be great. I hope things work for you!
  20. To the UCLA posts, congradulations!!!! Do you mind PMing me the initial of your POI? I would be more than grateful.
  21. From Boston Uni clinical psy program coordinator, " Our schedule got pushed back. We will begin notifying on Wednesday. " hope this helps ease your nerve
