To the folks with the Northwestern interviews, would you mind sharing your subfields?

Hey @archeodan-- I am currently applying to PhD programs but ended up delaying my applications for 3+ years for what sounds like a very similar opportunity and would be happy to think through pros/cons. Feel free to DM me. I will say-- I have LOVED my job for the past three years, which has only encouraged me to return to school, but has also given me room to further develop my research interests. Let me know if I can be any help!

Hi all,
I'm wondering if those applying this cycle or others who are already in graduate programs might be wiling to share their experiences with contacting POIs, even if the school has a "no contact before admissions rule" ? I am wondering about this because I want to be respectful of these policies and not to bother anyone, but I've heard from others that some department faculty will speak with potential candidates, despite these rules. Would anyone be willing to share their experiences with this?
Thanks so much!

This process is just terrible, but I'm glad there are so many good people here on Gradcafe to talk to about all of this!!
I've got a great interview weekend coming up--much to my chagrin that I might live far away from everyone I know and love--but the program (University of Cincinnati) is just so good that I could never turn them down if they offered me admission. Then I'm on a waitlist, then have one rejection so far. I anticipate two more rejections (UCLA and Michigan-Ann Arbor) because they would have contacted me by now I think if they wanted to offer me anything. 5 more to go...
good luck @terraaurea with your interview! Also, your statement "This process is just terrible, but I'm glad there are so many good people here on Gradcafe to talk to about all of this!!" YES. I couldn't agree more. All of you are awesome!

Congrats to all the Brown admits!
For those of you who have been through multiple application cycles, do you know if it is appropriate/acceptable to reach out to POI after rejection to see about how to strengthen application for future cycles? If I don't get in anywhere this year I hope to reapply next year and it would be helpful to get some feedback, but I'm not sure if that is appropriate.
Thoughts?

Shit, if you got rejected, I might be too!
Edit: I had too and checked the message on my Phone. I got a rejection too! Two down, two to go. i'm getting worried, what if no one accepts me? I didn't even make it to an interview round or anything!
@EvelynD and @homogenius Sorry about the bad news today but keep the faith! My fingers are crossed for you with your other schools! The anxiety about the future is the worst part of all of this

Hi Everyone!
I have been fortunate to follow along this thread as I've been applying to grad school-- what a stressful process! I am wishing all the best to all of you.
Is anyone applying to JHU? I noticed on their website they extended the application deadline from Dec 15th to Jan 15th ...does anyone have any thoughts on why that might be?
