  1. @bloomings Congrats! I am glad you've got an answer from USC. The cohort was particularly strong this year, so it's great you'd been on the shortlist! If you have any questions about the program, let me know.
  2. @bloomings I understand. You know, I applied last year to ten universities and was rejected by all of them! It happens and does not reflect your intellectual abilities. Please, let us know if you are finally admitted somewhere...and keep going!!
  3. @bloomings You're welcome. You are right: send them an email on Monday to know if you have been rejected or waitlisted. While awaiting developments, just relax. Do you wait to heard from other programs?
  4. Hi @bloomings! I have been accepted to USC's American Studies PhD Program and attended their Open House last week. At my knowledge, they have invited all admitted students plus those who are on the waiting list...however, it is surprising they did not give you a definitive answer. Where in early March, and I think it is appropriate to keep in touch with them and asking about your application status.
  5. Thank you so much for your adorable (AND instructive) answers ! I am a little bit less confused about how to deal with USC's offer now. In addition, they offered me to visit the campus in few weeks (and they pay for the flight from Paris!) As you have all said, it would be an excellent way to evaluate in which extent both the university and the program will fit with my future research interests and career plans. Besides, I really appreciated your message @towonderland72. I completely agree when you said that there is so much to learn about gender, race and sexuality in the streets of L.A. I have already visited L.A. few times these last years, and I think it represents is an unique and fascinating ethnographic field. I will be delighted to send you a private message when I will have more specific questions. Congrats to you @SEAsianIntl! I am so glad another international student had been admitted. I second you on the funding package proposed by USC. I had been selected by the French Fulbright Program and was interviewed by them two days ago. When they saw my letter of admission they told me: "this is a golden opportunity. Please do not refuse!". They looked sincerely happy for me. Do you consider to visit the campus in March? Maybe we'll meet each other! Congrats to other admits AND lots of support for the others. You worked hard, you deserve to be admitted and I am sure you will. Thanks again, have a great day
  6. Hi everyone! I have a question about admission offers (if you think this question is off-topic, please tell me). I just have been informed I am admitted to a PhD program at USC in American Studies. I am so excited and happy, BUT still wondering if I've made the right choice. As an international student - from France - graduated in sociology, the department of AS perfectly fits with my research interests (in social justice, sexuality, race, nationalisms). However, I do not know if it is a "good" school or not, recommended or not, etc. Any feedbacks or info on this department would be extremely useful. Thank you so much in advance. Oh and by the way, congrats to everyone already accepted and good luck to the others <3
