  1. Yes, I was accepted Jan 12 and went to their visit day last week.
  2. Good luck! I understand the email checking aspect.... I've found myself glued to my email for the last month!
  3. I have heard from many professors that it's harder to be accepted into your alma matter. I even heard one professor describe it as nepotism.
  4. Holding out hope that Yale has a waitlist Not sure why I've had my heart so set on Yale, but nonetheless I do.
  5. Is anyone else going to USC's visitation day on Friday? They tend to have cohorts of around 4 people, so I'm guessing it will be a small group.
  6. A surprising amount of schools don't have the day off. There will likely be less news, but still a substantive amount. Has anyone noticed days of the week in which news is more likely?
  7. I'm assuming you're applying for sociology! Here's the link: http://www.thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=sociology Best of luck
  8. How common is news on weekends? I had always assumed I wouldn't hear anything on weekends, but the last two weekends seem to have been full of news for others.
  9. Good luck to you! I would've been surprised too. I guess you just never know!
  10. Also to those discussing the UCLA visitation email... It might help you clear up the situation by figuring this out. Whoever received it: perhaps check if all of the emails listed were all other accepted students? For some of my graduate admissions notifications, many people were CC'd that are in the department.
  11. The UCLA decision portal is here: https://appstatus.grad.ucla.edu/Account/AppStatus.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2faccount%2flogin.aspx Enter your email address and it should give you an open to retrieve password. They give you a randomly generated password, not one you've used before.
  12. Haha! I'm out of upvotes but that is true! This week I switched to tea instead of coffee for that very reason.
  13. You're right- I'm certainly getting ahead of myself. My nerves are making me jump to conclusions.
  14. Is it safe to assume that if I don't hear from Yale before 5pm EST that I'm denied?
  15. Congratulations! I certainly am jealous, but immensely happy for you! Best of luck
  16. Well, you have time. If it comes to it, you can hope to get on wait lists. As people make their decisions, some spots usually open up and those wait listed are moved in. Best of luck!
  17. I've heard from a few people that they tend to release acceptances in two waves. There is still hope!
  18. Ahh yes! I find myself neglecting my current studies!! Yale is one of the few I'm waiting to hear back from... Fingers crossed!
  19. Anyone else going through waves of anxiety? Haha. One day I'm fine and willing to wait- the next I just want to know!! But as I mentioned earlier, I met with a professor yesterday who told me that most schools are still early in the process, and that it will likely be another month of decisions.
  20. I know a professor on a grad admissions board who said that it is still "very early" in the cycle for most schools. I'd give them time.
  21. Nothing from Penn, but I'm thinking next week or later. Last year they started sending acceptances in mid February, and continued until the first week of March.
  22. Type in your email, and it should show a password "Retrieve" button. I remember I had difficulty finding out how to use the site the first time I logged on.
