  1. I think it boils down to a question of general reputation versus reputation within the field of public health/medicine. In terms of the latter and training, especially in methods, I think opportunities and rigor are about even at both schools. I work with a few people who are recent UNC grads or are currently in the program, and from what I get, UNC and Harvard (along with Hopkins) are very well represented at research conferences and such. I guess the area where Harvard holds an advantage is interdisciplinary research (health policy etc.) or if someone is intending a career of consulting/ private research work etc. That's my 2 cents and I'd be curious to hear your take on this also!
  2. also rejected from Harvard PHS Epi just now thankfully UNC came through before or it would have been a real bummer
  3. Thank you! I didn't receive an email but randomly checked the portal this morning and the status update link was there, hope you hear good news as well!
  4. Just heard good news from UNC Epi!
  5. well hope is hanging by a thread now from the looks of it
  6. congrats and out of curiosity, were you notified earlier this morning like the rest of the people who heard back from harvard? just want to know if they might be sending notifications in batches.
  7. wouldn't it be nice if the adcoms designated specific day/time as to when we'd hear back. think that would cut out a lot of stress in this process
  8. congrats @Hopeful17 any fellow PHS-Epi track people at Harvard hear back yet?
  9. thanks, and congrats! from the results page, it looks like hopkins may be sending out the notifications in waves, as some people even heard back last week. here's hoping to some news harvard PHS epi, when i spoke with them, i didn't get a specific timeline but in the past they've had all of their people accepted by around 16-20 Feb.
  10. curious if anyone that interviewed at Harvard (PHS - Epi) or Hopkins (Epi) has heard back post interview?
  11. JHU and Harvard sent out a lot of their acceptances on 2/12 last year, which was a friday. so, we should definitely see some major activity today
  12. no, the e-mail was brief and made no mention of who i've been matched up with yet. i am thinking that process will be initiated post the formal letter. hi, formally chose environmental epi for hopkins. although from an outcomes standpoint, my interests bleed over a little into perinatal/reproductive and cancer as well. My interviewer said that we should expect to hear back in 2 to 3 weeks tops post the interview, so the wait should be over for us soon, regardless of the result
  13. hey, yeah found out via e-mail this morning. I chose environmental epidemiology as my area of focus, also I think Pitt sends out acceptances in waves, I saw a handful of people over the past years finding out late Feb, sometimes March. What's your field of interest?
  14. heard from UofPittsburgh earlier, accepted! applied on deadline day (1/15).
  15. thanks, so 50-60 interviewed, yeah not getting my hopes up too much then
  16. also interviewed at Hopkins recently. was the 200+ figure for the epi department alone? any mention or idea of how many were interviewed? My interviewer made a mention of the epi department being restricted to under 20 admission spots.
  17. I applied for environmental epi. Also, from what I am told (by current UNC student), there are a handful of early acceptances but most decisions come out late Feb-early March.
  18. not the only one anymore, i didn't see luck either
  19. thanks, and congrats! with respect to the notifications going out at the same time, i guess not since i'm in neither boat the moment haha.
  20. did the people getting accepted at UofW Epidemiology hear back recently?
