  1. The West Virginia Division of Justice and Community Affairs is seeking a new Director for the Office of Research and Strategic Planning. This office conducts research on all things criminal justice in the state of West Virginia. Here is the job listing: https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/wv/jobs/2090936/director-office-of-research-and-strategic-planning?utm_campaign=google_jobs_apply&utm_source=google_jobs_apply&utm_medium=organic
  2. Hello, I graduated from the University of Memphis this spring with a terminal MA degree in Political Science. I've been actively applying for any sort of social science research-esque position I can find and feel I am qualified for. I've probably submitted over 100 applications since graduation. Since that time I've had two interviews of which yielded no job offer, although one mentioned I was among the 'top two' finalists. I am curious if I am expecting too much; if an MA doesn't qualify me for the type of work I'd hoped to do. I can't feel as if I'm doing something wrong with the application process. Perhaps someone on here could lend some advice as to what the best course of action to take so as to land myself in some sort of social science research role, that is, advice on where to look, what to look for, etc. Thanks... Mark
  3. Waiting to hear back in doctoral programs in political science from Brown, U Pitt, U of Oregon, Syracuse U, and Johns Hopkins. Would be excited about even a notification of under review, at this point. Bleh. Posting here to vent.
  4. Heyo, I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with receiving admissions results either after 5pm in the school's time, or over the weekend. I have a hard time imagining they'd be working on this during non-official hours, but maybe I'm wrong. tl:dr, is it worth it to check my email over the weekend or in the evening? thanks
  5. Hello, I am obnoxiously checking on The Survey on this website and realizing folks who are identifying what sub-fields they are intending in pursuing, while some are not. This is making me worry as I am realizing I never explicitly identified my intended sub-field in my statement of purpose. Is this something to be worried about? I feel as though my intended sub-fields (comparative) was implicitly implied in my letter. Does this sort of thing make a big difference in application review? Thanks! Mark
