  1. Thanks for sharing, super helpful to be prepared for such a question. I think you did the right thing. I would reply that I only applied to places that I believed were a great fit so the possibility remains high. I don't believe that seems rude or undecided, if you have offers from multiple institutions and they are of equal fit to you then naturally a visitation experience and final funding offer would help you make a final decision. You should be proud that you have multiple offers and be willing to find what will be best for you to achieve your objective. I think it would only be rude to hold up an offer if you did not have the intention to go at all.
  2. I claim one of the UNC acceptance (IR). I will offer up more later but for what it's worth, this is my second cycle. Two years ago I was pretty devastated watching the rejections roll in. There is no clear path but I will share that in my last rejection previously I was offered a two-year MA program. I didn't think much of it and then it followed up with full-funding. I spent that last year and half improving my quantitative background, gaining research and TA experience and developing relations with faculty members. Two years is a long time before giving up another five to six years of your life. I hope no one needs to make that decision but I can say it is a viable means to an end if this is truly what you want.
  3. Claiming my first admit - UCSD e-mail with funding (IR Subfield)
  4. Thanks! Understand it will vary, just curious how deep they like to go. I figure at that point you have made it to the "maybe" pile and they are trying to whittle it down to the lucky few. Good luck with your discussion tonight!
  5. Not yet but hopeful. Has anyone gone through the "application discussion" experience before? If so, thoughts on what to expect?
