  1. there are 3 rejects on the forum's results page. and i saw this offer on a chinese forum too: M.A. in RSEA @ Harvard U with full financial aid offer up to tuition plus $20,000 for two years.
  2. Hi guys, I received an email today from a course I applied that I am ranked third on the waiting list. I am told that they would like to enrol eight students this time, and will accept students on the waiting list if they don't receive a cohort of eight by April 15. I am not sure if this is a good news or bad news, and hope you guys can analyze this for me. When the admission committee wants only eight students, does it mean that they send out only eight offers of admissions or do they give out slightly more since they may not receive 100% positive replies? I'm quite concerned about this since my chances depend gravely on how they issue admission offers.... kinda want to know how much chances I have for this school. I am positive about this in general, my GPA is not fantastic, and we are talking about a pretty good university so I am glad that I may be ranked as high as 11th among so many applicants. Hope you guys can share your views!
  3. Yes, you should double-check by emailing the grad admission committee if you are able to waive toefl results, though in your case it is most certainly that you do not need to submit. do include in your email how many years you have been educated in english-speaking institution(s), and past standardized assessments which can prove your adequate command of english
  4. Hi guys. I'll be applying for Fall 2011 masters and am wondering which of the two will be the greater deciding factor when it comes to admitting an applicant. Would someone with a low gpa, (about 3.2) but a good CV (no paper, but a lot of experience, such as internship, in the related field, and participated in related conferences etc) stand a good chance, compared to someone with high GPA (say about 3.7) but with a CV that is "scattered" (buffet-like and no focus)? That is, assuming their other application materials such as GRE results are comparable, and that they are applying for the same masters course. I have to admit, I belong to the former. Currently lacking a bit of confidence in the application, given that everything else is great, except for the GPA (had a terrible time in the first two years), which I've heard so much about committees being very stringent and setting it as the first bar applicants would have to cross. Please advise me!
