  1. I've heard this too, but how does someone with a 3.9 gpa miss out then?
  2. All of these ridiculous GPAs are scary, but at the same time, maybe they are serious when they say that GPA doesn't make a big difference so long as it is good enough. The rest is more about how you will fit in at the uni. Does anyone know when financial assistance information will be released?
  3. No need to stress guys, I just e-mailed them to ask that specifically and got a response!
  4. Just received an email from the institute saying that we will have the decision "by mid-march"
  5. Hopefully! I heard on the webinar they said that strong LoRs and a strong SoP won't really make up for weak grades. The question is what they consider weak though. I also wrote in my SoP that I would be happy to be considered for the masters of sociology and anthropology of development, so fingers crossed! Good luck to you too
  6. Hey Asaad. We receive a score as well as a grade. So when you average the scores, it's 71%, but if I would use the grades and a gpa calculator, I get a 2.8. The universities in Australia really don't talk about GPA and if they do, it's on a 7 point scale. Most people I've seen getting accepted have GPAs around 3.3 or higher, so I'm most concerned about this part of my application :/
  7. Hey guys! First time poster here from Australia, applying for the M DEVS program and am super nervous about the decision notification date, I share everyone's pain! I too thought that they had changed the date to early April, but I am pretty sure that is only for the late applicants. For the rest of us, the decision should still be mid-march. My GPA was pretty weak in comparison to what I've seen elsewhere, we don't really talk about GPA in Australia, but the average score overall was 71%. When translated to a GPA, it ends up being like 2.8/2.9. In my favour, I changed from an IR program to development studies in my bachelor after my first year, and my grades picked up significantly after this. I already know that I got a really nice letter of recommendation from one of my tutors, and another one of my references was from an ex-IHEID staff member, so I'm hoping this works for me as well. Do you guys reckon that my GPA will be just too weak, or do you think I have a chance all things considered?
