I've seen people posting U Penn CAMB, does that mean they already sent out all interview invites?

There were invitations sent out Friday and yesterday/today. I'm waiting to hear back too. Trying not to lose hope yet as there may be more to come. I think most programs make decisions within the specific home areas.

Keeping an eye on my phone in case University of Michigan PIBS decides to call me. Seems like they call instead of emailing. Any updates on UMich, UNC BBSP, Baylor College of Medicine, or Vanderbilt IGP?

Vanderbilt meets every Monday and sends out interview offers the next Tuesday for each week in December.

  3. Hi all!

I am curious as to what textbooks are good to have for someone conducting their Ph.D. in cell and molecular biology? What books do you all like.

To start, Alberts Molecular Biology of the Cell and Lehninger Principles of Biochemistry are two books I use and reference all the time.

  5. My research interests are cancer metabolism and oncogene regulation. My summer experience at UCLA looks at transcriptional regulation of important genes in the glycolytic cycle in metastasizing cells. My background in natural products chemistry introduced me to many tools in molecular biology; CRISPR, Gibson assembly, biobricks, etc. as well has LCMS techniques. Though these experiences seem random at first glance, I think they have definitely prepared me for an interdisciplinary approach when studying cancer biology.

  6. Hi all. I am starting to look into programs to apply to that start Fall 2018. Based on my stats, do you think I have a chance at programs such as UCSF Tetrad, Stanford Biosciences, Vanderbilt, etc? I just want to know now before I waste time/money if my chances aren't great. Thanks! I also plan on applying to the NSF Research Grant this fall as an undergraduate. Any pointers for this?

  7. Hi all. I couldn't find a page for 2018 yet, so I thought I'd tack on my stats here. I am starting to look for programs to apply to in the fall and was wondering if Stanford Biosciences and UCSF Tetrad would be a stretch. Let me know what y'all think. Thank you!
